Re: POLL, do you have better qualifications than your parents? My dad has two O Levels, my mum has 6 O Levels and two NVQ level 3s. I don't have my degree yet but I still say I do because although they're equivalent, I have 4 A Levels compared to my mum's 2 NVQs.
Although I could have gone with plan to because I plan to do both a masters and a PhD. -
Re: POLL, do you have better qualifications than your parents?
My Mum maybe passed the odd O-level back in 65, and I don't think my Dad was even fortunate enough to go to school during most of his childhood
I have a BSc.
I think I could have gained better grades than the two of them combined by just writing my name on my GCSE papers, bless them
but they worked hard and tried to give my brothers and I opportunities that they didn't have so hats off to them.

LOL you sound like my Nan's neighbour's 5 year old daughter LOOL. She repeats stuff like that. -
Re: POLL, do you have better qualifications than your parents?
mum has 7 cses/o-levels, and 3 alevels. oh and a ba from a polytechnic.
dad: no idea on olevels, 3 alevels and a cambridge ba.
i only say the uni name because everyone seems to think cambridge is better than some random old poly. but they got the same degree classification ( i think). and in the end, that's all that matters.
i have 10 gcses, done 4 as levels and will do 3 alevels, hopefully a ba, and then maybe a masters (heh heh) or maybe another ba degree (cos im weird like that
)

My mom has 9 O Levels and 2 A Levels. She's a nurse so did whatever the degree equivalent was in the 1980s.
Dad has 10 O Levels. He didn't bother to turn up for his A Level exams!
I'm more qualified than my dad but on a par with my mom. She's a Band 8A and practically runs the place! She does work extremely hard bless her

Re: POLL, do you have better qualifications than your parents?Yep. He also has an MBA; I've got a bit of catching up to do...(Original post by Craig_D)
As in, the automatic BA upgrade after 6 years? I hate those things.
In fairness, though, the upgrade does seem reasonable to me - considering the gulf in workload between Oxbridge and every other university.Last edited by mc1000; 29-06-2012 at 03:49. -
Re: POLL, do you have better qualifications than your parents?
My mum left school at 16 with barely any O Levels. My dad also left school at 16 but began as an apprentice for Ford - I think as part of that he had to get a civil engineering diploma and some other qualifications but nothing else. It felt kind of weird when a teacher asked this question in secondary school and nearly everyone in my form's parents had at least a degree. Doesn't bother me now.
but they worked hard and tried to give my brothers and I opportunities that they didn't have so hats off to them.
