    Easily bruised
Hi I'm just looking for opinions, apparently I bruise really easily and my parents think its a cause for concern? But to be honest I hadn't really noticed and I do sports where bruising is pretty unavoidable, but the parents are all up tight about it because the bruises appear so easily.
I know I have low blood iron levels because the blood donor van has rejected me twice in a row, is there any link between these that anyone knows of?

I'm thinking of going to the doctor just to stop my parents worrying but I really am totally unconcerned myself.

Does anyone else have this "easy bruising" thing? Or has visited the doctor for a similar reason?

Not sure but I'd imagine there would be a link to low blood iron, although I'll leave that to the people who know what they're talking about when it comes to medicine on here to clarify that

I get bruises popping up on my hands and arms quite frequently, never been to the doctor about it, but then again I've had loads of tests done in the past few months and I'm fairly sure something would've showed up then, in your case maybe it'd be best for you to get them checked out just in case?

That's one of the symptoms of low iron in the blood. Go to your GP to get your levels checked properly so he can give you the right dose of iron. Also if you do alot of sports this will improve your energy

    I bruise really badly too.

When I say really badly, someone accidently kicked me two months ago. Not hard, hardly hurt at all. The bruise spread from mid thigh to mid lower leg (the kick centred on inside of my knee) and stretched all around my leg. The bruise has almost faded, but the skin is discoloured and blotchy.

Three years ago, I went on an adventure holiday, and came back with virtually completely black/blue legs. One of the bruises still reappears if I have a long bath.

I have pawprint bruises on my stomach where my dog (a medium terrier, so not exactly huge!) jumps up. My boyfriend has left fingerprints after holding my arm during a tickle fight. My ex left a bruise the exact print of his ring where he hit me (playfully - or so he says). My dad flicked me with a cocktail stirrer once. I had a smiley face bruise for two weeks...

Even squeezing spots can lead to bruises, my clothes if too tight (i.e. bra strap) bruises.

But I never saw this as a problem, think I should go and get it checked?

I would definitely recommend going to the doctors in this case; when I was talking about my bruises I meant really small ones which appear out of nowhere, your situation sounds like something I'd definitely go and see the doctor about, especially seeing as Geoism says it's a sign of low blood iron they can give you supplements to help
