    AS Levels not cashed in
    Hi guys,

My school are planning on not certificating my AS levels including the ones I drop and the ones I continue into year 13. Will this put me at a disadvantage or effect my application?

    Cheers

It's an advantage, really. Universities won't care if you put down grades as though they were cashed in (for example, I was told by school to put my Maths A* on UCAS as an A*, even though it hadn't been cashed in - I had all the modules to get an A* - they mentioned it on my reference). On the other hand, if your AS levels didn't go as planned, you can just put pending on the grade, and they won't know how you did at all.

So, it means that you can highlight what you did well in, and ignore what you did badly in.

Think of it this way - If you were an admissions officer, what's the difference between a student who cashed in their AS modules and a student who got the same grades but didn't?

tl;dr My grades weren't cashed in and I got offers from all of my choices. I think it's mostly private schools who choose not to cash in - and they seem to do pretty well in general.

My school's not cashing in the AS results either, and I didn't see it as a disadvantage. Now it makes sense why they don't it!

Thanks guys! Universities generally ask for the equivalent grades to be written in the reference, will they hold a similar weight to cashed in grades?

Does anyone have experience of applying with uncertificated AS level grades? If so did it affect your application?
