is it too late to enter the contest? I've just discovered this thread and would quite like to join as it'll help keep me motivated. From the thread, it seems the last date for posting the first picture was the 8th July (yesterday)

    Thanks

I think so, but there's nothing stopping you from making a thread and playing along. You just won't be leigible to win anyhting, but then that's kind of not the point!

Yes, that seems to be the most common one. I much prefer doing eat stop eat though :yep: She'll relax when she realises that you do eat - just at odd times!

There's nothing to stop you running a blog alongside the competition for the motivation, even though its too late to enter. That way you can still benefit from advice and support.

Maybe an idea for if this competition runs again, we could have a fixed end point but allow entries up to say 6 weeks before the deadline. As long as they could prove with better evidence that a printscreen of the picture details, such as a front cover of a standardised newspaper. We shouldn't discourage people from taking part just because they tried to enter with 11.5 weeks left rather than 12, seems a little counter productive. The point of the competition is to give an incentive to people who want to make a change for the better, and by not allowing entries a day over it seems to be slightly flawed.

    Edit.

It wouldn't disadvantage the people who have entered from the start of the competition. The people with late entries should be shown as such in the official entry thread, but they will naturally have less time to 'transform'. The judging criteria shouldn't be altered, it should be kept the same. The difference between the starting pictures and the end pictures.

Yes I agree we shouldn't discourage, but there isn't a need really. It would just cause confusion and be annoying if we keep having entrants throughout.

A week is plenty of time for people to decide whether they want to do it in my opinion

This would mean that some members had double the amount of time though. There has been an entire week for people to get their photos taken, plus information about the contest released a couple of weeks prior, including a forum-wide announcement. It's unlucky for the people who didn't meet the deadline, but there would be people missing the deadline whenever it was set for. Just an unfortunate thing, but we've tried our best to spread the word.

It wasn't advertised well enough in H&R. It is that simple.

I have to admit, I only noticed it because it was on the homepage (someone else must have just posted) didn't see an announcement or anything

This was posted from The Student Room's Android App on my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e

To be fair, it was advertised very well in the fitness forum for several weeks. You only had to visit the fitness section once during that 2-3 week period to see it was happening. If somebody didn't visit the fitness forum at all during a 3 week period, chances are they aren't too fussed.

There's always going to be a few people who miss the deadline, whenever it is. Although for next time perhaps there could be some announcement/advertisement on the TSR homepage, or a generic private message advertising it and linking to details in the fitness forum could be sent to each TSR user.

I visited the Healthy new you, change for life thread, but because I'm subscribed to it I don't have to go via the general fitness forum, so I didn't see the advertisements. Maybe I'm just blind ah well.. at least i got my pics up in time =)

As above it was advertised forum-wide as an announcement

It was going to be advertised on the home page, but admin encountered some problems.

Yeah unfortunately, the new changes to the homepage meant there wasn't time to sort out an announcement there. But on the bright side, the new homepage should easily allow for future competitions to be advertised there!

It was advertised throughout the entire forum for ages. There is no way anybody could miss it. It's like saying you missed the announcement about changing your password on TSR from the recent hack...
