be at least moderately intelligent and work until you know everything you need to.

I'm afraid that's it. There's no magic formula. Just have the capacity to get the grades if you work, and work.

"Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it."

There's no magic - it's about working on the right problems, pushing yourself (i.e. not doing things over and over once you know how to do them).

Prepare for the predictable. There are very few exam boards that like having students fail exams. This means that the first 40-50% of marks on most exams are available to a trained monkey with some memory. Do not be the student who scores the other 50% and leaves te easy marks on the table. Learn your definitions. Learn the predictible arguments, and remember the facts, quotes and theories that come up year after year

Most 200 page courses can be reduced into fewer than 20 pages.

Do not listen to the voice in your head saying "well this might be useful .. well, I better learn this just in case." The reason why so many students underperform in exams is because they do not have the intellectual independence to say "I do not need to know this." Most people obsess about understanding and remembering every detail of the course, regardless of its relevance or importance

Aim to develop intuition about what you do and do not need to learn. Be selective. Do not waste time learning what you can deduce. Devoting time to practising remote concepts when you do not understand the core will not prepare you well. Discerning from the essential from the interesting is difficult, especially when you are under pressure.

worst possible outcome AAB? That's not exactly bad!
As long as you stay on top of work and put in roughly the same or a bit more amount of revision you should be just fine - just make sure you know where you're heading at the start of the year.

"Success is 90% preparation". Practice, practice, practice. Just revise everything off your own back and do it consistently throughout the year, after each lesson or week, write up notes on each topic you've covered in the respective subjects.

Actually complete homeworks which are set, find teachers if you have trouble with anything, start revising early for exams. Above all, do NOT spend all of your lunch breaks playing pool; learn to resist your temptations and spend some lunch breaks doing work in the library.

Honestly, my brother got BBCC as his AS grades, and by retaking whilst doing his A2s, he ended up with AAA as his over A-level grades. Revising for half on hour on each subject everyday (outside of homework time) from the beginning of next year would benefit you enormously. And judging from your AS results, getting 3As at A2 shouldn't be too much of a stretch for you!

You could do that. For example, in sociology i need to learn a lot of topics for next year! And he advised start re learning 'research methods' again over the summer as that will be a part out the way. So ask your teachers if there is something you should get started on. And i advise going through vocab in the summer, and reading around - like reading the newspaper a lot or clips/lectures and a news text to do with your subjs - but you need the time off too!!!!!

Revise hard on each subject I would say, don't leave revision till last minute because then it would get to overwhelming and probably just make revision cards on the main topics of the subjects that way if you get those done, you can leave the easier stuff till last minute to revise, also try and do like an exam paper on each subject then get your class teacher to mark them and give you feedback

DON'T stress yourself out by doing too much revision though
