Which medical schools put much more weight during application on academic performance
Discussion of individual medical schools and their courses for applicants and current students. Not for all those 'Am I Good Enough' questions.

Aside from Birmingham and Oxbridge, which Medical schools put much more emphasis on academic performance (than other medical schools) during the application process?- Kings (GCSEs/UKCAT)
- Cardiff (GCSEs)
- Edinburgh(GCSEs)
- Barts (High A level predictions/ More than three A levels)

So If I had a lack of work experience & volunteering, as well as a mediocre reference and average Personal reference, with a tendency to put people off in interviews by seeming arrogant (but I had good GCSEs and A level predictions) I should be applying to Barts, Imperial, Birmingham and Sheffield (for example)?

Having a poor personal statement and being arrogant at interview will get you 4 rejections, no matter where you apply. -

For Barts it is the latter that is important. The 2012 thread showed that Barts interviewed students who achieved 510 Ucas tariff points and above ie anyone applying with 3 A levels and 1 AS will essentially waste an application. -
Re: Which medical schools put much more weight during application on academic performYou NEED work experience for Medicine. Yeah you will have a good chance if you have good predictions but just have work experience (in a hospital or a GP will be good choices). I think for Birmingham you need about 8A*s (or something crazy like that), Imperial's GCSE requirements are low. If you have something like A*AA you will be fine, as it is above the requirements of AAA which many offer.(Original post by Mrblbshrtz)

My advise would be to take a course on interviewing techniques and work hard on improving your PS and getting some volunteering experience - without the volunteering I would say your chances are close to zero. Are you sure you really want to study medicine?
