watched the keynote and was very impressed a lot of functionality crammed into quite a small frame, but I cant help but think sometimes....its a 160 quid for a reason, the lack of expandable memory is unfortunate, I know theres cloud solutions and things. But you cant have everything and a quad core hi defintion tablet for 160 quid, you'd be mad not to

I'm not sure if the tablet supports it but there should be no reason it doesn't support usb to go. I know the software does, if it does it's as simple as getting a small cable adaptor and you can plug your usb stick straight into the tablet! The only thing that really disappointed me was the lack of 10 inch version, not sure I feel a 7inch tablet is really big enough seeing as my phone is 4.3"...

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed to support it straight out the box. Jellybean definitely supports digital audio output, which pretty much means it can be used with USB sound cards, which means it can act as a USB host [=

That's brilliant then! 16GB is big enough for most things except videos. And for that you can just have a 32GB usb stick at hand full of them! Bit random but I'm hoping jelly bean will sort out their audio latency to IOS levels. I'd love to be able to plug an instrument straight into the tablet to do some recording on! :L

Just not too sure how a 7inch display hold up to a 10inch one for reading pdf's and magazines on.

Edit: looks like they have finally reduced the audio latency down from 100ms to 12ms!! Amazing!!http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/27/31...-in-jelly-bean

Haha not for me, all my audio is in lossless formats so I'm going to have to be selective with my playlists since my USB slot will be feeding into an audio rig =P Going by engadget's review the screen is good enough to read a page of text without having to zoom in, between the resolution and quality of the panel I doubt there will be any issues with reading.

A bigger issue is that, for the moment, the Play Magazines are US only (surprisingly...)

But in any case, I don't find reading text at that resolution on a 10" tablet to be any problem, so I don't expect it to be with a 7" one.

The audio latency improvements are frankly my favourite improvements to come out of I/O thusfar. Updated Maps APIs would be even better (but have been comprehensively ruled out).

I don't see why just printed text should be a problem, just a little more page flicking than on a 10". yeah each month I download the stuff magazine online which I get in a PDF file showing two pages at once. Be nice to read that on a tablet without having to constantly scroll to different parts of the pages, but then again I struggle to read it on my 23" monitor so can't expect too much from 7" :L

Yeah loving the audio latency, hopefully IK media will port their guitar interface and software to android now too!

Could you watch programmes on iPlayer and TV on the tvcatchup site on this tablet, seeing as it doesn't support flash player?

There's an iPlayer app in Google Play which I assume 4.1 will support. As for tvcatchup, they have mobile sites that are compatible with, but my Windows Phone won't work with. Could be worth checking with Android to see if those links are device locked or if WP7 just lacks the necessary functionality.

EDIT: Apparently using the url m.tvcatchup.com works with Android handsets without the Flash plugin.

yeah I assume the iplayer app will work on jelly bean, works perfectly on ICS.

also it's not really advertised anywhere but tvCatchup do have a beta app out, you can download the apk from the link I've listed below. Works pretty well. And it would work through the browser anyway, my old iphone used to play the site and that didn't support flash

    It's all good then [=

Hopefully they'll start shipping sooner rather than later so I'll be comfortable whacking my MacBook Pro on eBay =P

yeahh if you bought from the google store it's 2-3 weeks dispatch time! There's rumours of google bringing out a 10" version, I will not be best pleased if they do after I buy this... :L

Haha I'll be counting down the days then :ahee: I don't mind really, the reason I bought the Nexus 7 was because it was barely over the £150 mark which is all I really wanted to spend, I doubt they'd be able to keep a 10" model sub-£200. By the time they add all the bells and whistles they'd be expected to like the rear camera, expandable memory etc it'll probably be approaching the "I may as well get an iPad" price level, which is what I wanted to avoid by limiting my budget.
