Re: Things you LOVE about footballThat was actually a really good description and I wish I could know someday what that's like. Sadly, it'll never be here in the USA because we don't have a football culture.(Original post by Marshyy)
Away days, not knowing where you are but walking into an unknown pub you've been text about and finding it full of West Ham

Re: Things you LOVE about football
Newcastle United
The raw passion
The simmering, crackling atmosphere.
The pub rituals
The sport bringing everyone together, how it has established friendships and became the thing in common amongst most men
The crazy euphoria of a last-minute goal
Winning a derby
MOTD theme music / watching MOTD when your team has won
Transfer Deadline Day
Commentators who just get lost in the passion of it all a la the Neville orgasm and Martin Tyler's AGUERROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOO
Your club making new signings
A quality, crunching, old-school but clean sliding tackle
The spur-of the moment banter and chants between fans
European nights
The Champions League theme tune
Watching usually mild-mannered people going mental at the referee, players etc. -
Re: Things you LOVE about football
Moments like this:
and also in general:
Arsenal FC
Zinedine Zidane
The atmosphere when people gather to watch big matches.
The build up to a match and the after banter between mates.
The atmosphere inside stadiums at times.
THE BIG MOMENTS that everyone talks about.
How the UK loves football.
Just everything and its the only sport rarely boring.
Great commentary.
And also big comebacks, last minute goals, heartstopping moments etc etc is what people watch football for i guess.Last edited by wenger16; 01-07-2012 at 23:36. -
Re: Things you LOVE about footballWhen a goal alert pops up, you scramble for the remote, press the red button... it plays the goal in the match and then goes back to the game you're watching. Genius.(Original post by ra-ra-ra)
The genius from Sky Sports that came up with the “interactive red button service” on Champions League nights allowing you flick between 15 matches (and possible flick over to ITV for the one remaining game) over two nights!

Re: Things you LOVE about football
Liverpool FC
The moment that, and everyone sense it, you KNOW a goal is about to be scored
Quality free kicks and quality free kick takers (Ronaldo, Honda, Carlos, Ronaldinho etc,)
Arrogant but funny footballers (Balotelli e.g)
Footballers that everyone hates, Neville, Sol etc.
The moment when Emile Heskey scores
England's 5-1 domination of Germany too long ago
When a game goes into a shoot-out (as a neutral
)
Dutch total football at it's height
Haha i could go on

Re: Things you LOVE about footballI'm glad they sorted that out. You used to press the button to see the goal and the goal would have been and gone already!(Original post by Dorito)

What a day that was - even though we lost in the end.
