    traffic cone
Woke up this morning and found a traffic cone in my garden. The garden is open, with only a small path leading from the street and a gate that doesn't close properly, so I presume someone just got in and, for whatever reason, decided to leave a traffic cone behind. Problem is that i've checked, and apparently you can get a £5000 fine for pinching a traffic cone. I think that if I just go into the police station and say 'I've got a traffic cone here' I'll look suspicious as all hell, and I really don't fancy paying a massive fine and getting a criminal record, so what the hell do I do with it?

I don't know where in my town it came from. I could just dump it in the street outside my house, I suppose, but that would effectively block off the road.

Really, you're worried about a fine?

I once woke up after a heavy night out, fully dressed (boots and all), with two traffic cones in my room. How I got them through the house without waking anyone up is beyond me, but I was very impressed with my mad ninja skillz, as was my mother.

I'd love to know what happened to those cones...

I've stolen a few traffic cones over the years and as of yet have not been fined five grand.

If there are any road works near you put it by those, if not I would just put it by the road. The council will pick it up eventually.

Traffic cones are a necessity for all student homes.

You could go to a friends house and lob it in their garden. Problem solved.

lot of kleptomaniacs ideas here... I think I'm just going to dump it on a street corner and hope the council find it. Cheers!

only statue we have that could work for is on a 9-foot pedestal, and is itself about 6 foot tall. I'd need a scissor lift or something

Just phone the council and say it has been thrown in your garden and they need to come and collect it. Ask for them to record that you have contacted them and then if anyone attempts to fine you £5000 (which is very, very unlikely - councils/police have bigger fish to fry) you will be in the clear because you have reported it and made it clear it was nothing to do with you.

Don't worry - it is only a traffic cone.

Pfft, no statue is ever too tall for a cone to be crowned upon it!
