Can you give make up back once you opened it??
So I bought foundation and tried it when I went home. But its way too light and looks ridiculous. The lady said I could get away with it. But evidently not.

Not if you've broken the seal or used the product I'm afraid. I have also fallen victim to this before, really irritating because it was MAC (i.e. not cheap).
Sometimes you can sell products for a smaller price or swap them on online make-up forums? You could try the sell/swap section of sites such as Make-up Alley or Makeuptalk. You'll usually need to describe the product and post a picture to show how it's condition and how much it's been used. It's a longshot but you might find something

Once I bought an estee lauder foundation and got it matched at the store. So the lady put a new one into a bag and I purchased it without checking (I assumed she gave me the correct shade)
Got home, put it on and it was soo dark, so I went back the next day and they said they'll exchange but I wasnt happy at all and just wanted my money back so she did a refund.
What ends up happening to the used one, anyone know? -

If it's faulty e.g. parts missing, breaks, not as advertised etc you should get a refund, regardless of the store's own policy. See Sale of Goods act. e.g. Years ago I bought a No 7 palette of some kind and the brushes were missing. I was able to get a refund.
I don't know what happens if makeup gives you a skin reaction.
If you change your mind, don't like it etc, it's up to the store. Boots and Superdrug usually don't allow refunds on cosmetics unless faulty. Some high end brands allow returns as they feel customer satisfaction is important for the brand.
I would imagine they throw away or send back to the manufacturer if faulty. If sealed, they probably just sell it.Last edited by No Future; 01-07-2012 at 12:58. -

No :-/ I'm afraid once you've broken the seal you can't return it, the only reason for returning things after you've used them is if they are faulty, but wrong colouring doesn't count as being faulty sadly. You can usually exchange it for the right colour though.
Next time try a tester, most places have them alongside the actual product
