    Phone problem with Three.
A friend of mine had a contract with Three, which she thought she was paying the bill for, but it turned out her mum was paying. £10 was leaving her account every month, which she discovered was for a different number once she left her proper contract. This was for over a year.

Anyway, Three are refusing to refund this amount, even though she did not take the contract out. Another important issue is that she was 17 when this 'false' contract was taking out, surely making it invalid? All Three have done is tried to get her to pay any outstanding bills.

This situation is completely ridiculous. What can be done about it?

    Thanks for any advice.

So what was she actually paying for?

Somebody else's £10 a month contract. A bit silly that she didn't notice the number (some people might just look at the amount), but the contract is surely illegal. Three say that because it was done online that the contract is legal, but surely not...

A complete stranger? What was done online? Surely at some point a contract must have been signed?

If the situation is as clear cut as you say (though I can't see how it is) then yes it is illegal to take payment for a service you don't provide.

Three said it was signed online, and yes, we only have the phone number of this person (which we don't recognise).

It honestly is clear cut. But they are providing a service, but to some other person using this phone number.
