    help lol
    There are 15 more girls than boys. there are 10 boys for every adult. If there are x boys and girls together, how many adults are there?
    despite the fact doing a level maths I couldn't solve it and feel embarrassed. in addition this is supposedly a secondary school question wTf

    Let g = girls
    Let b = boys
    Let a = adults

    g = b + 15

    b = 10a
    a = b/10

    g + b = x

    --

    (b + 15) + b = x

    2b + 15 = x

    b = (x - 15)/2

    b/10 = (x-15)/20

    a = (x-15)/20

    10b = a
    Tempting, but more like b = 10a.

    why is that
    10 boys for each adult.

    If there is one adult, there are 10 boys, i.e. the number of boys is 10 times the number of adults, hence b=10a.
