Have you ever got a patent? What are your experiences?I've come up with an idea and I would like to patent it. (It is an invention, not intellectual property)
Has anyone else ever done this? How much did it cost?
How long did it take?
Was it easy to get?
How did you find out if someone else had already patented your idea?
Cheers

Bear in mind that a given patent may only apply in a given jurisdiction and not worldwide. As a point of terminology, a patent *is* a form of intellectual property. -
Re: Have you ever got a patent? What are your experiences?I have a patent pending. It's just under £10K we expect. This is a UK patent.(Original post by Jeester)

It takes ages. It's on average around a year to be filed.
Yes, it's easy to get as long as it's original and there is nothing out there similar, patented or not.
They will search for you for under £500. This includes the whole world.
