Photos for drama application

So my friend will be applying to a few drama schools in London this year and will be required to submit photos as part of the application.
If anyone else has been through this process and could provide some details that would be really great.

What we'd like to know is:
Should they be taken by a professional or not? - what do most people do?
Also what poses and postures should be taken and what clothes should be worn?

Any help is welcome and much appreciated, thanks

The only application forms I've looked at just ask for a passport style coloured photo, where are you applying for that need these?

Thanks for your reply, it is reassuring to hear from others in the same situation.
We've asked some institutions by now and some seem to want any kind of picture without preference and prompt to their prospectus where more special information will be included, and some have mentioned basic passport styled photo too.

Some require full body shots, this is more for dance courses or schools in which the musical theatre has a large amount of dance or movement based work. For that situation it is best for professional.
