Casual no jeans
I'm doing work experience very soon and I need to buy clothes for it because it is specifically labelled as casual no jeans.
Any ideas what I can wear? I am 16, male and I have no fashion sense at all
Last time this issue popped up I just wore chinos (my only pair.... ) all the time and different shirts.
Is there anything else I can wear apart from chinos? This is at the National Physics Laboratory if that helps in the slightest.
Also if I wear a shirt, should it be tucked in or not? I literally have no idea and I would greatly appreciate any help from the countless people on TSR that know about this stuff
Thanks,
Cyf -
Re: Casual no jeansThanks. What kind of shirt would you recommend. Is tucked in a bit too geeky?(Original post by nevergohalfpace)
School like trousers is what comes to mind when thinking of smart and casual. Just wear your pair of chinos again I guess, buy another pair if you don't like wearing same ones over and over. They are dirt cheap on Ebay. -
Re: Casual no jeansA polo shirt would be casual/smart I think but don't tuck it in (I just hate tucking in shirt personally so just think other people shouldnt aswell :P)(Original post by cyfer)

Re: Casual no jeans
If you're doing work experience, tuck your shirt in. You'll look horribly unprofessional otherwise I'd imagine.
Seeing as you're unsure, I'd go with some trousers or chinos, and when I say chinos I mean well fitting, slim/straight ones, not the Topman skinny/carrot type with elasticated cuffs or anything like that. Then get some decent shirts in basic colours (think white, or pink/blue pastels). Then get a tie to wear, something that is navy with red stripes will do as it will go with all those those shirts.
Then if you turn up and that's too smart, take off the tie and unbutton the top of the shirt and you'll be fine.
Oh, your trousers/chinos should ideally be navy/cream/grey. Then get some decent looking brown shoes and make sure they're clean. Could also wear black shoes with the grey and navy.Last edited by SamF1992; 30-06-2012 at 12:12.
