Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!tell us more mate, what job etc, were you staying in bkk?(Original post by lcsurfer)
hey, I am myself moving to Thailand on Monday for a year due to a job! Moving to central Bangkok. -
Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!I'm sorry, but you're not living in the real world. I agree that happiness is the most important thing, and maybe I'd like to go and spend my life on a tropical island. But guess what? I can't...because I wouldn't have the money unless I worked. I don't particularly want to work, so would I be 'unhappy' doing so? Maybe a little, but that's just how the world works. It's all very good swanning off to 'live the dream' on a beach and then lambast others who live their lives a little more realistically, but the simple fact is life is about compromise.(Original post by Genocidal)
Happiness is all that matters. If they are happy avoiding responsibility then they have already accomplished more than 99% of other people. They are happy.
But that's what he's talking about. You mentioned only having experience in a few bars and such, but that's just you being a slave to your CV back home. That's not living, that's just passive slavery. Why should what you do in life be tied to: "Ooooo I hope a future employer approves of this." That's just not living. -
Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything! My work is done entirely online and I love my work so I can do all of that. The only reason another person can't is not because "life is compromise" it's their fault that they can't. If a strong-willed person wants to do something then they'll do it eventually.(Original post by jonnythemoose)

I have a few on-line passive incomes, not the best, but I think this is the way forward for me :P. If only I was smart(Original post by Genocidal)

Maybe a bit of a nosey question, but you did say ask anything
.. how much have you got saved up? Or at least an estimate? Just curious cause I'd love to do something similar eventually and was wondering how much other people think they can manage on.

Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!
Hey, I've lived in Thailand my entire life despite being a UK national (returning to the UK to start university this September) and I can't say much more than be careful. Visit Koh Samui if you fancy a week of nothing but partying, Huahin maybe and possibly even Phuket. If you fancy diving, definitely try to go on a diving trip to the Similan islands (in the Andaman Sea). If this is something you want to consider, I once went on one with a great boat crew that can actually teach you the open water diving course, get you certified, and have boatloads (heh) of fun all in a week - just pm me if you're curious. Also, if you know someone is a ladyboy, don't get too cozy with them! Even if they may have done very well and look good, the majority of them haven't quite gone the whole way. You wouldn't want to find that, would you?
I assume you know the country's general etiquette and the very prominent danger of being ripped off by Thai street vendors/taxi drivers, etc, so I won't tell you all about them. Have fun. I'm actually a bit glad to be going back to a country where I can see green and it isn't always 30 C or higher with the sun tearing into my body. My question is, do you plan on doing anything culturally related while you're in Thailand?Last edited by Willez; 05-07-2012 at 10:57. -
Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!how is hua hin? is it very touristy? nice beaches? cheaper then Phuket or on par for prices?(Original post by Willez)

yeah I know the etiquette and stuff. By street vendors you refer to people selling goods and services, and not food?
I plan to carry on doing thai boxing, been doing it 4 hours. But other then that its just to take in the culture and lifestyle, get a cheap place to stay in. See Thailand for what it is

new blog post, hope everyone enjoys, feel free to comment and ask questions -
Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!Huahin is just alright, actually. What I enjoy about it is not so much the quality of the beaches, but rather the quality of the restaurants there. The majority are fantastic. I'd say it's cheaper than Phuket on average, since Phuket is almost completely geared for foreigners and is just sickeningly expensive as a result.(Original post by harvie_316)

Yeah, I mean goods and service. Street food, as long as it's clean, is actually quite tasty. Restaurants here don't need to be fancy to be very good. There are plenty of street food cafes that match any top-class restaurant for food quality. Good luck with Thai boxing - I've never done it, prefer just working out and athletics hurdles myself, but I hear it's very good for keeping you trim. -
Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!Yes you can, I work..and live by the beach in the sun...(Original post by jonnythemoose)

Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!thats good to know, I will for sure check it out, and I agree phuket is mainly for tourists, may even call it a tourist trap now, but the beaches there are great. Is there any chance for snorking and green waters at hua hin?(Original post by Willez)

Your blog post reeks of arrogance, misunderstanding and naivety.
it was the only template blogger had lol.(Original post by MancStudent098)
I have a question: If you're moving to Thailand why is the background of your blog a picture of a map of central Asia?Last edited by harvie_316; 08-07-2012 at 11:50. -
Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!I'm not sure if you are smart enough to understand, but they are not generally admirable or amiable traits in a person. What are you hoping to achieve with this blog? How many people are going to follow the adventures of someone so helplessly ignorant and vain? It seems to me as though you are incapable of understanding other people and you are simply running away from your despair. Good luck to you. You will need it when you return to the UK in 2 months time.(Original post by harvie_316)
I agree. -
Re: Ask A guy whos moving to Thailand anything!its my life my mistakes, if it doesn't go well, I will learn from it. Its really no different from someone taking a gap year. Im just being my self, and thats all you can be in this life.(Original post by 21stcenturyphantom)
