Should Britain become part of the Roman Empire again?
Historically both countries are linked. We share tied values and, if reunited, would be significantly stronger together.
We could end the problem in England (The EDL would be isolated in their position and outnumbered by the will of the British people...the London terrorist groups would probably just disappear).
I understand democracy is a contentious issue but to be honest we really need to see a British dictatorship anyway so lets get rid of it and look toward the future.
It is a dream of mine to see Rome reunited with the British peoples (treated and respected fairly this time with full apologies to the crimes they commited against us in the past).
Do you think this is ever possible in our life time or just a pipe dream of mine? I believe most British people are probably bitterly opposed to ever rejoining the Empire?

What's the point of this thread apart from being a response to this one?

Re: Should Britain become part of the Roman Empire again?
As much as I would love England to bring back the Roman Empire, there is the slight problem of not having, you know, control of Rome...

Oh and screw the Holy Roman Empire, what was just a pathetic German 2nd edition.

Re: Should Britain become part of the Roman Empire again?
I'm afraid that I think that this is a silly idea. The point of an empire is to have a functionally parasitic central state that leeches the resources from the satellite nation. Unless you're in the central state, it's not a good situation. This is why everybody wanted to be a Roman citizen.
Also, the Holy Roman Empire was, as Voltaire said, neither Holy nor Roman nor even a proper Empire :P -
Re: Should Britain become part of the Roman Empire again? We're already in the new holy roman empire (a good thing as well I might add).(Original post by Martyn*)
Not the Holy Roman Empire?
