I only turn my phone on silent overnight if I don't want to be woken up in the morning...say after a night out... or when I think somebody annoying might call me, so I have a good excuse to why I didn't take the call and can get back to them later without lying to them...

It's on vibrate, but it's able to be otherwise silent, but still work as an alarm. My family and many of my friends who contact me on it are 3 timezones away and still sometimes forget that 9am for them is 6am for me!

I couldn't help but smirk. :getmecoat:

Anyway I don't bother to put my phoine on silent or vibrate; I'm not popular enough for it to matter.

i dont turn it on silent. i need mine on for the many alarms i set, plus sometimes when i cant sleep its because its too quite so ill use the music player on it to help me drift off to sleep.

usually if i get a text or phone call ill just sleep through that anyway so it wouldnt bother me if people call me or text me in the night. most people i know wouldnt phone me at stupid oclock in the morning because out of all my friends im pretty much the only one who is up at all hours of the night anyway, as they all sleep more than me anyway so theres very little chance of being called or texted at night anyway.

    Aeroplane mode.

While it's rare, I have recieved drunken texts at 2/3am and it's bloody annoying. But I need to leave the thing on for an alarm or I'd sleep for 37hrs. So I block all signals.
Plus point - it also saves battery considerably.

Mine goes off overnight, there's no reason for it to be on.

I leave my on silent 95% of the time anyway. At night I put it into Flight mode to use the least battery

I turn it off because otherwise I will get woken up by Facebook chat. Don't get me wrong it's a handy app to have as you can take your FB conversations on the go, but 24/7 - no.

My phone generally stays on vibrate just because if I change it to loud I will forget to change it back when I go to work.

I keep it on overnight just incase of emergencies, my sister seems to think needing a lift home from town at 3am is an emergency somethimes though.

Real people always have their phones on silent.

Ring tones are the worst things.

I put it on slient. I need it on for the alarm but I get quite a lot of emails and all those notification noises would ruin my sleep. They would also really annoy the rest of my family.

To be honest I can't really think of anything that could justify calling me when I'm asleep!

My phone is always on vibrate. Always. I don't even know what my ringtone is because I've never heard it or bothered to look at it. Nothing can be so important as to wake me up.
