    A2 salters chemistry coursework
I just spent a week planning my A2 chemistry coursework for the synthesis and analysis of purity of aspirin, but I have decided I will find that too hard. So I have changed my mind and am now going to determine the rate of reaction of zinc and sulfuric acid and then look at the catalytic effect of a range of copper salts. Will the practical chemistry in this be easier? - as i am rubbish at practical chemistry. Also is it harder to get a higher grade for this than the aspirin?

to be honest, I'd say that the aspirin practical is fairly straight forward and you shouldn't worry too much about it. The rates of reaction one you mention wouldn't necessarily be easier.

hah, i'd say choose the one you feel you would enjoy doing the most. These days students tend to choose the one they think they can score best rather than what they find enjoyable to learn/do.

I did synthesis of paracetamol, and you can gain so many marks doing a synthesis. If you find 2-3 different ways to make your product, and analyse it in different ways, you can gain a lot of marks for comparison. I.E. IR spectroscopy, melting point, percentage purity ect . It's good fun!

I'm so stuck on a chemistry question : How to find out the rate equation for the hydrolysis of aspirin.

Does anyone know steps in order to take to do this? So confused, any help would be appreciated.
