Well one of my life long dreams is to get a Lamborghini Aventador, which probably won't happen for 15 or so years from now.

How would anyone with a normal job afford such a car?!

I'm planning on doing Petroleum Engineering, but I don't see how even that job would allow me to get such a car.

There must be some sort of secret?!

It costs £250k by the way and I would gladly live in a below average house to get one!

Does anyone know what the maintenance of these cars will cost?

it would be simple to buy a lambo with just a normal job i have it i just saved loads of money over 5 years

    Yeah... No, you haven't.

Also, OP, you will not get it with a normal job. In 50 years or so, when you can get this thing for a fraction of the current price, then maybe. But that'd mean that there are loads of better cars our there, and then you'll just be drooling over them instead. That's life for people who aren't lucky, I'm afraid.

And just think, John Terry and such can afford one of these every week.

As long as you don't get married and save up enough, you'll be fine!

Imagine owning an Aventador and having your car parked in a really trashy estate where you lived. I'd love to see the look on the neighbours' face.

lol a "normal" job clearly will not allow you to afford this car... prehaps unless you have nothing else but this car and live off of tesco value bread. it's not just the 250k but it's insurance, upkeep... blablahbaa
    ...

i know and have met people with cars like this. they are rich. they do not have normal jobs... they either have high earning jobs, husbands with high earning jobs, or money in the family. i also have come to realise that it is completely unecessary. i would pay money to drive this car on a racetrack... but not to own something like this. i would be too scared of damaging to drive it, it is crazy money to spend on a vehicle.

it is beautiful though and riding in fast cars like this.... soooooso much fun!

If I was going to spend 250K on a car it wouldn't be a Lambo.

Ah, Lamborghini's latest design travesty: graceless, over-engineered and no doubt coming soon to a Dubai sidewalk near you. Meanwhile, in France:

An extremely wealthy family friend of ours has owned a variety of supercars, and once owned a Murciélago. He inherited and now fronts the family business however, which is a European logistics firm, and has been running this for quite some time (know that it wasn't just a simple case of 'here you go son', but requires a considerable amount of effort, stress and competency on his part to keep it running).

The financial sector is where you will earn the most money (especially after graduating), with two of my friends doing extremely well financially since starting graduate careers at PricewaterhouseCoopers. The thing to remember is that these cars are marketed at 30-40 odd year olds now, who have become company directors and such, and who have got there often by a ruthless approach to business and finance.

Consider yourself unlucky you aren't Justin Bieber or the children of some Saudi or Dubai upper class (the spawn of whom look barely old enough to drive, but you'll still see gunning their parents Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, McLaren's and Koenigsegg's down South Kensington and Knightsbridge most nights of the week). You're going to have to put some serious graft in and be prepared to defecate on some serious people to accumulate that kind of wealth aside becoming a celebrity.

...Or you could rent one. Check out some of the Supercar rental businesses that are out there - it still isn't exactly cheap though!

For 250k there are better things to do with the money, but for you it's your dream.

It's not impossible to own one of these, but it'll take some hard work of course.

On the plus side in about 10 years time, theres cars will probably drop in value giving you a much better chance of having them. The baby Lambos start at around 50k and they are as good as this. Best of luck though!

Its a car for millionaires, such a stupid question.

You can afford one by not doing media studies basically.

Petroleum engineering go to the middle east £100k a year, in 20 years ull be on £220k so itll take u 14 months to buy one working in petroleum abroad

    Simples.

Chem eng applicant want to do petroleum masters

Normal jobs salary is possible. If you have little/none outgoings like living with parents , mortgage is paid etc. and say you earn £35k a year . Save the £30k a year for 10 year and it's yours. And spend the 5k on whatever. Or just get it on finance

Very few people can afford to buy a car like this up front, but don't lose hope. What I'm planning to do to get my sls amg one day is by leasing it. So maybe you can do that too

Your looking at maybe 4-5k easily in maintenance each year such as insurance, servicing costs, and warranty. Then there's fuel which is dependent on how much you drive it etc. The price your quoting of 250k is brand new, and imo you should buy a car like that used, unless you want to ride the harsh depreciation wave!
