Tired of TSR.
I'm growing sick of this site, it seems that every few days I get a warning for some horrific act of rebellion in the form of being slightly impolite about someone who is clearly nuts or "spamming" by pointing out the likelihood of certain users posting amusing comments on threads.
Even more regularly does a mod close a perfectly acceptable thread for either the posts being "off topic", which is a pathetic reason, or even just because they don't actually understand what the thread was about and had mistaken it for something else.
Does anyone else feel the same way? Is TSR really quite a pathetic forum in many regards? Is the often intellectually developed discussion on here spoiled by over-zealous moderation? I certainly think so.
I think I'm off to be honest, no more TSR for me. I've had enough of the forum being so boring about its content - it needs to loosen up a bit or I bet more people will just leave, not that they'd be that fussed I'm sure.
Finally, how long do we think this thread will last before it gets deleted for some pathetic reason like so many others? Similarly, how long do we think I will go without posting anything on TSR before giving up on my boycott and coming back? I'm taking bets!Last edited by Illusionary; 30-06-2012 at 16:49. -
Re: Tired of TSR.
hmm not sure about your other points but the rate at which TSR is growing is exceptionally fast. Very close to one million members.. Mods can be a bit overzealous sometimes, but in most cases people don't get warnings and bans for no reason. Like most forums, TSR has rules. If you don't abide by them, then of course you're going to get warned/banned?

Re: Tired of TSR.It will be if I grow a pair and develop some willpower! Having said that, I must say your posts have been the most sane, sensible and intelligent about - it will be a shame to miss out on your input from now on as you always say what I want to only in better words.(Original post by Gofre)

Many of the bright intellectual minds on this forum seem unable to debate without coming across as condescending and disrespectful, as well as being totally unaware that they're being so.
If moderation was relaxed than I bet it wouldn't be long before your precious intellectual discussions were trolled into the ground. -

Re: Tired of TSR.People have been complaining about moderation since 2004 - and yet the site grows, as does the userbase. Mainly because I rarely see moderation decisions that don't make sense - and it seems a lot of people agree with me. Even with decisions that I disagree with (had my disagreements with H&R mods at times), then I respect that the rules are in place for the majority of people. Lastly, remember the moderators work for free, and their time is limited, so yes - they could sort through 400 posts, splitting the 150 that are off-topic, but when a thread has veered that much, it is often better use of their time to close it and they can deal with other things, and new discussions / the discussions that were off-topic can start again in their own thread if it is a reasonable topic to discuss (i.e. not flaming).(Original post by MrHayden)

Re: Tired of TSR.
TSR don't give out warnings/bans for no reason. If you receive one it is because you've breached the forum regulations somehow, which you're supposed to have read as part of signing up to TSR. If you have issues with individual warnings then you can always create a thread on the moderation queries forum and they will be fair (and also explain why what you did was unacceptable if you really don't understand). If you don't like the website or the way that it's run, then it's very much your decision as to whether you continue posting, but I know that I and the rest of the community would be happy to see you stay and contribute positively if you choose to do so.

Re: Tired of TSR."Their "best"? Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and **** the prom queen."(Original post by ViceVersa)
Mods try their best tbh.
In all seriousness, the moderation on TSR is comparatively light-touch. I'd love to moderate like some of the little Stalins on other forums do - banning people at will for breaking rules, especially trolls... but unfortunately I must abide by the guidelines set for me to follow.
Intellectual discussion is encouraged on TSR. It's only when intellectual discussion turns into rule-breaking discussions do we have to step in. It's not hard to debate something without breaking the rules.
MrHayden, if you have a problem with moderation, you should raise it in Ask A Moderator. -
