    Chemistry at A Level?
I'm trying to decide whether I should take Chemistry at A Level. I like science, and I find chemistry interesting, but I don't know whether I should take it or not. Does anyone have any experiences they could tell me about A Level Chemistry? I know it's going to be hard, but I am willing to work hard.

Well, i was unsure to take it at A level. I only really took it go compliment my biology. (at the time biology was my favorite subject)

Best decision ever! I now hate biology + love chemistry haha. Now i'm going to do it at uni.

Is it hard? Well, personally i think no. I think it'd be soo difficult if you didn't have an interest in it though. It seems to be one of the subjects people either really like or dispise. If you like understanding principles and WHY things happen, then chemistry is definitly a good choice. The idjets who prefer to just memorise stuff don't seem to enjoy chemistry.

    I quite like it.

If you're flexible with numbers, and think you can get your head around some tricky theories, then go for it! Just make sure to refer to the book for anything you don't understand.

However if you don't have a good teacher, then Chemistry will become 200% harder. It also requires a lot of revision.

    I loved it.

Its supposed to be the hardest Science A level, but I found it easier than Biology and Maths.

Conceptually there is nothing THAT difficult

    So in summary

    Chemistry all the way

IMO I took chemistry because it was one of my favourite subjects, and I was decent at it, and I still love it (although I seem to be doing worser in it, by the day :'))

Like with any subject, don't do it solely based on enjoyment, do it because your good at it. At the end of the day, you'd rather have AAA then AAC because you just loved that chemistry.

It's not immense hard work, and i was worried when I came into AS, but just as long as your prepared to work hard for it, and not from the middle of the year like a lot of others do, but from the very start, and you'll find you can manage it perfectly well! Hope thats been useful...

Hmm if you're geting A's at GCSE then you should find it pretty straightforward. Saying that, few of my friends in my AS class were like

The exams can be quite challenging aswell but the subject at a whole, in my opinion is amazing I just started A2 and its pretty ok aswell but obviously harder with more maths content, though if you are good with maths then it will be piss easy for you lol.

    In short:

    DO IT

It's hard, but as long as you put in the work you will be fine. Make sure you enjoy it though, because otherwise you will find it super difficult as it's one of those subjects where you have to understand the concepts and not just memorise them! It takes a lot of revision too. Also even if you got an A* at GCSE (like I did) don't think you'll be able to sail through 'cause that's what I did at first them regretted it come January when I got into a panic about the exam. It's a big step up from GCSE.

Honestly though, it isn't as hard as everyone makes out, it just requires more hard work to get your head around than some of the other subjects
