Need a new 'gaming' mouse - shape Important
    Hello ya'll,

For about 3 years I've been using a much beloved Razer Deathadder (and its beautiful shape) for all my mouse related needs. Recently however my hand has started suffering quite a bit of pain when using the mouse (RSI-y, doing the stretches..) and it seems to be caused by the shape of the mouse. as I don't really suffer it having swapped for a 'normal' mouse, so I'm looking for a new mouse that doesn't share the death adder's shapes and I'd love to hear your recommendations! Budget isn't too much of an issue, unless it's truly extortionate. Thanks.

I thought the Razer ones were all pretty nicely shaped according to what's considered "anatomically correct"? Is it not so that you are sitting in a bad angle for your arm rather than the mouse itself? I had some issues that I thought were caused my the mouse but it got better after getting a wrist supporting mouse pad.

Really? I've had my Deathadder for 5 years now, I absolutely love it. Not really sure what to suggest tbh, a lot of them are that shape

I thought it might be, I did the googling and have set up/adjusted my desk/chair/everything as much as I can - it didn't reduce anything while using the death adder but switching mice removed it nearly instantly.

Don't quite know what shape you're wanting, but I'm using this:

which is really nice, after the inner muscles of my mouse hand started to ache a fair bit. Note it's only for right-handeds though

Check out the steelseries mice, they're all the "normal" mouse shape. the xai is brilliant (been through 2 now, lasted about 2 years each) but they've just released the sensei which I'm intending to get when I scrape together enough cash. Also, on technicals (IPS and acceleration etc.) they're top notch

They look very good - thank you for the suggestion. Can you comment on the size of them? The death adder ended up feeling a little small / leaving my ring/little finger dangling to the side and not doing much other than ache.

Also further reason for buying a mouse just arrived - ever so slightly broke the mouse wheel on the one I swapped, so I can't really swap back

Might be a good thing, using this small one means I take more of a fingertip stance, I heavily palmed the death adder 'cause of its shape, which is probably the reason my ring/little finger hung over and ached.

I used to get that with an old Logitech I had, but the Deathadder sorted it, I have small hands though

Its marginally smaller judging by the numbers on both websites. I think though that the a lot of the "width" of the deathadder comes from the fact its curved slightly, making it appear wider than it is. TBH, I think it'd be ok, my hands are large but because its a less stupid shape, you can actually get your entire hand around both sides of the mouse.

i ve had razer diamondback, logitech mx518 and microsoft intellipoint. the ms is the best for me because my hand is big. i find the razers 2 fast only needed if you like high sens gaming but they are accurate as hell and if you play with it for a while you will get used to it, but i just didnt like the feel of the my razer.

ive overclockd my intellipoint and its super accurate and fast now and comfortable. try whats vest.

It's definitely one I'll look at - thank you for the help

Most people don't play with high sens. Infact in a lot of games you shut the sens right down ingame. That way you get the detail and accuracy from the high sens but you can actually control your movements easier.

i did the same with counterstrike. what im saying is the lowest sens setting on the razer compared to a logi or ms mouse will feel a lot higher. of course you can adjust and with on fly sens its even better sometimes

It's such a good mouse!!! Although not the "normal" mouse you are looking for. Just thought I'd share it cause it looks so cool!

I have a G500, you will have to check out if the shape is similar or not but it's a good gaming mouse.
