Really? Muslims from the Indian subcontinent are more radical and insular? That explains a lot about my mother and father who hardly ever pray, fast or even talk about religion and don't even wear clothing that relates to the "Islamic dress code". Also, there are women out there who have no husbands or any male relatives but they choose to wear the burka. So please explain how the burka is an indicator of whether the male head of the house is a fanatic nutcase or not?
Yeah obviously there are people who go against every rule, they don't disprove the rule, do they? They aren't secular societies, so don't pretend the people are either.

I hope Britain doesn't become a country where they start passing laws about what clothes a person can wear.

It's a weird trends we are seeing in this country, if it is not the Bruka it's the hijab, now half of school girls are covered in cloaks and you can't walk through Tesco without seeing them everywhere, some are white too.
Not to say this in a bad way, but I've noticed this in my home town (Hull).

10 or so years ago, it'd have been quite a shock to see more than a handful of ethnic minorities in the city, being an ethnic minority myself. At my school, I could have counted the number of ethnic students, out of 2000 or so pupils, on one hand.

Now, being back in the area, when I go to the city centre, you can see a whole host of ethnics nowadays, including people donning hijabs and the like.

Then again, this also applies to any other ethnic minority in Hull. Like back in the day, every Chinese family in the area was probably well acquainted; nowadays, there are so many due to China being more open, influx of Chinese students, etc.

Just wondering i do believe in freedom on religion but do you think it is right for people to cover their face on passports?

Of course not. If you chose to wear a Burkha that's your choice. But if you chose to wear it when you get your passport photograph done then clearly your passport application should be denied. Let common sense prevail.

I just feel sorry for someone that's sick in a burka. That's got to be messy.

    Strictly anti british?

Sony and Microsoft are not british. Neither is Ikea. Or Samsung. Or Audi. You still use all these products right? Since when should something be banned or outlawed since it isnt "british?"
No, that's not what I meant. In Britain, electronics and computers are used. We use furniture. It's complementary to British culture.

It should be banned. It's not even necessary in the Islamic faith, but more importantly, it's anti-British.

It shouldn't be banned by law, but institutions should have the right to ban it in their premises imo. (like the school that turned away the niqab wearer at parents evening)

So we ban anything that is 'anit-British'? or were you being sarcastic?

The burka is strictly anti-British, as it is not part of British culture to cover your face deliberately when it is not needed.

Because an important part of human rights is the right to choose. People can wear whatever they want.

If someone would like to challenge what I originally said, instead of just negging it, I would be glad to tell them why they are wrong.
It is wrong to ban the burka because everyone has the right to wear what they like, and it would deny the basic human right: freedom of religion.
It is wrong in some instances : women refusing to show their faces when asked to do so at passport checks.

Yes, but that isn't "banning" it, which is what I was mainly talking about. I do think that everyone should have to prove their idendity, exactly the same as each other. But it shouldn't be actually banned, that's stupid.
