Why do you care? What's so bad about that? You sound sad to be that bothered by what she does. At least she's getting paid **** loads for it.
That's the whole point of it. It's trashy and stupid, that she is singing these songs with terrible lyrics and her rubbish voice, when there is musicians in the world who are writing really amazing songs and play guitar or whatever and have great voices that aren't getting paid because you have people like lady gaga getting attention.

    The world is ****** up.

    Meh.

We're living in an age where any and all publicity, any and all attention is considered good, no matter what it's intellectual merit, usefulness or overall good to society is. I lost all hope in mainstream US cultural exports when I heard 'Stupid Hoe' by Nicki Minaj.

It's a sad state but meh, just ignore it and listen to the good stuff.

    Why is that trashy?
Seriously? You can't fathom why that is inappropriate?

Oh, I don't know.... Princess Diana Spencer... the ring and then killed by paparazzi driving her off the road?

No, all I see are people micro-analysing a tiny part of the song and taking it as face value. She hasn't even released it officially yet.

Oh, it would be fine if it was Katy Perry juggling her tits but if someone actually tries to make some controversial performance art, it's a trashy.

Tbh, this is exactly what she wants.

Like this is the first time a song has been written about someone dying? I don't think so... I think it is kind of arty in a way because it's an interpretation/version of a huge tragic event in history that everybody over the age of 18/19 remembers as being such a sad time.

For anyone who thinks Lady Gaga is talentless or can't write songs:
I can't believe you posted that without being ironic. You are actually saying it's art!? You must be delusional to think so, just like her hoards of sycophantic fans. Like I said previously, before you posted your comment, she could cover herself in animal faeces and people like you would say that it's "an artistic statement".

Meanwhile, the rest of the world can see her for what she really is.

I can't wait to see the Daily Mail's reaction to this.

I agree, it's controversial for the sake of being controversial, but for the most part I think her songs are catchy and enjoyable, much better than crap like Justin Bieber or Nicki Minaj or Lil Wayne.

Musicians make music every day with 'inappropriate' themes. People need to get over it and stop clutching their pearls.

Why do you have a problem with people thinking that though? Are they hurting anyone? See, haters like you are funny because you claim to hate her so much, yet decide to devote your time and attention to her by starting a whole thread about her.

Just remember who the person is that's going out there living their dream and being a big success and making a lot of people happy, rather than sitting behind a keyboard grumbling about someone else's success.

No, I'm not delusional. I just think that there's a line between art and just doing something mental as a publicity statement. I think she's crossed it a few times but I don't think this song crosses that line. She is exceptionally talented and she deserves to be successful. I don't really see what the big deal is about this song. People write controversial songs ALL the time.

Eminem for instance is another exceptionally talented artist and he crosses all the lines all the time. I think most people realise that he's a bit of a dick and some of his songs I find very difficult to listen to. It doesn't stop him being talented so he deserves to have fans and be successful just as much as any of the other artists.

And what would that be that is so awful? She plays her own instruments and writes her own songs, and gives millions of people pleasure doing it. On top of that, she does huge amounts of charity work. That's a lot more than can be said for your existence.

Myra Hindley has more tact than she does.

Why are you comparing a popstar to a murderer?

She is definitely talented yes, but she doesn't get recognised for talent - she gets recognised for doing insanely moronic stuff (NOT "artistic expression") and releasing generic pop records.

And anyway, there is absolutely no artistic or creative merit in the lyrics that have been quoted. It looks like she spent 5 minutes on it... It is purely there to cause controversy and just because you don't care, it doesn't mean making a trashy pop song about a real person dying is not in bad taste. I can't believe someone compared this to Candle in the Wind!

Not meaning any disrespect, but it happened 15 years ago - let's move on now. I think its acceptable that she can be part of popular culture now - whether its this song, or a edgy joke.
