Things to do OTHER than clubbing?
Discussion for current and prospective students about social life at university, societies, what stationery and bedroom items to buy and anything else relating to life as a university student.

Re: Things to do OTHER than clubbing?
I don't like clubbing myself, but going to the pub is normal for me. Is it me, or do i think that everyone else in my halls will be clubbing together whilst i'm at the pub lol.
For freshers, If i do get to go and do some clubbing I probably won't know the words to a song, my 'friends' would all be singing along whilst im trying to copy what's on their mouth

Re: Things to do OTHER than clubbing?
There is plenty of other things to do than clubbing.
There are so many other events that go on the Student Union and around Winchester. There are societies to join and other things to do.
Winchester for a start boasts over 50 pubs if you prefer to hear the people you are out with.
The Student union also offers alternative rock/indie nights not to mention the hugely popular rock night Detention down at the Art School.
Bop! on a wednesday offers more of a cheesy disco style night out to the more club styled music that is played at Flirt on a thursday.
The railway and other local pubs offer live music and pub quizzes.
The student union also hosts karaoke, quizzes, film screenings etc.
And being non biased at all as the Chair of the History society I know Societies will be running events such as tours of the city, debates, parties both departmental and student led, pub crawls and much much more.
Have no fear many people don't like clubbing so their is always other people and other places to be!
Good luck and enjoy yourself! -

Not sure Winchester has one? Well, Southampton, I presume that's where people go for their nights out there.

Oh we do!
The student union is starting up a new one this year on monday but there is also the hugely popular detention as winchester school of arts down the road. There is also the Railway which often hosts local bands. There is plenty of alternative stuff out and about in winchester! Though once your settled southampton has some cool places to go too but I'd recommend staying in Winch for freshers. -
Re: Things to do OTHER than clubbing?yeah, UEA freshers is predominatly club nights apart from a comedy night- people I know who don't really like clubbing went anyway, don't know anyone who went to the pub for the whole night (as the pub closes at 11pm most nights)(Original post by James A)
