Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate?

Aside from the fact that I'm enlightened when it comes to what is beneficial in food, I don't think I could ever go back to eating milk chocolate. At £1.83 a bar, I just can't consume enough of this piece of heaven. Obviously, I eat this in moderation - 3 pieces a day - and would recommend that you do the same, but it's just so flavourful. Initially, I was worried that it would be too bitter, because this is the only percentage (and company) not to include added sugar. Such fears were allayed, though, as soon as it started melting on my tongue. Ahhh...
So, what do you think?
Edit: Oh, and in case you needed a reason to consume this, here it is: a square of baking chocolate will provide 0.9mg of copper (47% DV).Last edited by Formerly Helpful_C; 01-07-2012 at 00:27. -
Re: Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate? This is a tricky situation, because the cocoa has already been collected and exported. So, do we reject cocoa and cause these children to have worked needlessly, or consume it and keep them in a job? I believe the phrase 'self-perpetuating cycle' was created for this sort of quandary.Last edited by Formerly Helpful_C; 01-07-2012 at 00:28.

Re: Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate?
95% dark chocolate
Not available anymore though. -
Re: Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate? Not really. If you keep child labour it doesnt allow the children to obtain a basic or advanced education to increase their earning potential leading to a self furfilling prophecy. Of non stop dependency on 85% dark chocolate sales.(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)

Re: Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate? What would happen if the industry collapsed? How would that child pay for an education? It's not right, but it's the way the world works. I'm grateful that they provide me with chocolate, though.(Original post by Bill_Gates)

Re: Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate?
There are many things better than Lindt 85% chocolate, including a very large number of lower percentage chocolates. You should be more concerned with the quality of production of your chocolate than the percentage, and the reality is that Lindt simply doesn't use very good beans.

Re: Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate? But if we stop buying cocoa, the producers will stop hiring the child workers to produce it because nobody will buy it off them.(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)

Besides, would it matter if they had worked for nothing or not, the fact that they had been working is more important.Last edited by SpiggyTopes; 01-07-2012 at 00:48. -
Re: Is there anything better than 85% dark chocolate?
I've just found something interesting out - Lindt don't use beans obtained from slavery. I believe we can now move on from pretending to care about some people thousands of miles away.
Source: Lindt
If I'm honest, I don't even care how it's obtained. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, and neither will you.Last edited by Formerly Helpful_C; 01-07-2012 at 00:51. -
