Work Experience in a newspaper help?
I'm going to be doing two weeks' worth of work experience in a newspaper, starting tomorrow. I am fifteen, and in year ten.
The Editor asked for me to call closer to the time, to get the finer details, which I did. She said that I am to wear 'smart but not over the top clothes', and I may be able to go to court with a reporter that goes there weekly, as well as think of maybe a couple of topics for feature articles and perhaps write something, for my CV.
Although all of this excites me a lot more than I previously had thought, I do feel really quite nervous and apprehensive about it.
Have any of you experienced work experience in a newspaper? What can I expect? What is work experience like in general?
Thank you!

Re: Work Experience in a newspaper help?
No problem at all

I was at a local newspaper, so you probably haven't heard of it; The Oswestry And Border Counties Advertizer? All of the bigger newspapers replied back saying that they only did work experience with employee's children.
Basically, I wrote them a letter, after I had researched newspapers in my area, and sent a letter off to lots of different ones, hence the refusals before. My dad actually knew a reporter that worke at my placement, so that made it a little easier for me, but I still sent in a letter ect.
I was asked to phone the editor for more details, which I did, some may ask to see you in person like a job interview, that happened with some of my friends going to fairly prestigious construction companies.
That was it, really. Takes a lot of confidence but really is simple when you see it written down so simply.
Overall, the people at my placement were lovely, and they really play homage to the thing that my teachers have been saying; you are their guest.
I hope that helped
