Acne, nothing will get rid of it
Ok so basically I've had mild/moderate acne for around 3 years (I'm 16) and I have no idea what I can do to stop it. I only drink water (and sometimes milk), I eat a lot of fruit and I exercise regularly. I also take antibiotics that the doctor prescribed and wash my face every morning and night. I seem to do everything that the internet tells me to do but it just won't go! Does anyone have any suggestions I can do? Thank you!

Re: Acne, nothing will get rid of itA LOT, I'd say around more than 8 glasses a day, plus it's the only thing i do drink, no fizzy drinks etc(Original post by -jessica)
How much water do you drink? My skin used to be a lot worse but now I drink 2 litres a day and its much better. Also, Sudocrem. -

Ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist to be subscribed Roaccutane, It works 97% of the time, (I'm currently on it, on my 19th day and i already see a lot of improvement) it said to usually fully work from 6 weeks to about 5 months or something, would also like to say that you should look at the side effects of the drug.
I researched and found the drug, after countless creams, and antibiotics didn't work (starting to think do antibiotics ever work?)Last edited by Blazinq; 01-07-2012 at 18:23. -
My older sister had bad pimples and mild acne.
I had a dream that I was rubbing onions on my face.. Bizarre I know. But the next day I read somewhere of a woman with mild acne that rubbed onion on her face, then washed it off before bed and used petroleum jelly aka Vaseline/ non perfumed products on her face and it cleared up!
With a lot of encouragement and calling her a chicken etc, she finally used the onion and the woman's technique.. And the acne went. Of course now and then when she eats oily food or doesn't wash her make up off properly it may come back lightly but it isn't as bad as before.
Can I also stress to avoid oily food and staturated foods too.
Try it. I know you're thinking onions yuck.. But don't knock it till you've tried it!
Look it up on google there's various old remedies including onion and garlic that have been aiding the skin and decreasing acne and scarring. -
Re: Acne, nothing will get rid of itRoaccutane is the best way, I used it and my brother is on it just now. But yeah, you get very dry skin/lips, very tired and I became anemic. Can't remember the other side effects.(Original post by Blazinq)

Re: Acne, nothing will get rid of itSide effects which I currently have are Dry Lips and Dry skin, but using moisturizer and lip balm helps a little, I also gain nose bleeds a LOT (Had about 7 in 3 days)(Original post by Danny.)

Re: Acne, nothing will get rid of itCarmex(?) lip balm is brilliant, also Sanex shower gel for dry skin. Simple skin products were brilliant aswel. I remember the insides of my nose being really dry and hurting aswel. You may want to start on some iron tablets as I had to get a prescribed dose, then have it increased. Took a long time to get my levels back up.(Original post by Blazinq)

Re: Acne, nothing will get rid of it
I used to try every product under the sun and drink lots of water, fact is nothing really worked.
However, I thought why not go back to basics and just use water and soap which has worked.
Stress is a big factor too, I only really get any spots now if I have something stressful on the horizon. -

Dairy is a common influence in acne... cut it completely for a few weeks and see how you get on.
My skin is so much better since I stopped having milk in large quantities on cereal/in hot chocolate etc. Now I only have a drop of semi skimmed milk in tea, and I use almond milk for cereal.

Re: Acne, nothing will get rid of it
I had acne for about 5/6 years on my back, wasnt really too bothered about it, but then a few months ago i began to get a load on my chest. Went to the doctors and they prescribed me antibiotics and a cream/gel with benzoyl peroxide in. I didnt take any of the antibiotics as they make me nauseous, but the cream totally worked. It cleared my back up in around 3 weeks, and i only get the odd one now.
