Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)Loads of people have given you good answers, from the cheaper high street brands to more expensive designer ones, yet you have only commented on the people who have give you stick. So what do you suspect?(Original post by Wraysford)
Some of us go to schools where students are supposed to take pride in their appearance and dress smartly.
The boys school next door to mine (when I was at school) had to wear suits (we didn't). And everyone one of them (well who I knew), threw it away after the two years they were there. Even if they had got good ones, or not. Because you ARE wearing it every day, and only to school, so there's no point in getting a flashy one. Noone cares. I recommend Marksies, or Next. That's where I got a suit from, and I'm more than happy with it...for the time being. When I get my own money, then yes, I will be spending money on flashy suits. -
Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)An increasing number of state schools are being run by headmasters obsessed with their schools image over substance. It doesn't matter whether the children are comfortable while working or not, but they look smart walking to and from the school...
What makes me laugh even more is my sixth form now does that, despite their stated aim being to get most of the students into university - a place where you spend at least 3 years of your life not wearing any uniform at all! -
Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)Mine had a uniform, but a 3 piece suit? Really?(Original post by Wraysford)

I need to buy my suit from sixth form soon and I'm undecided on where to buy it. Money isn't an object (don't hate on me). I thought about Armani or Gucci but I don't want to seem too showy (I go to a state school because I didn't like the private school where I live and the state school is closer to me). Where is good quality where I could buy a suit, or should I go with Armani or Gucci and not care about what people might think?
If you're going to a state school, then ngl you'll look like an absolute douche turning up in your finest Gucci threads. Literally 90% of my year bought their suits from M&S - most bought 1 suit and then another in summer, and almost all bought machine washable, as sixth form is not the place for expensive suits - they just get dirty.(Original post by SrijanParmeshwar)
Buy it from M&S (I'm biased because I bought my suit from there)

Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)
I bought my 3-piece tux from a charity shop. Pierre Cardin, fitted almost perfectly. £8.50.
Had the shirt and jacket tailored. About £40.
Then cummerbund, bowtie, shoes, £120. Given how little I paid for the suit, it was worth getting stuff that's going to do me more than a few years

Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)
I really don't understand why people buy suits from places like Armani/Gucci, I think they look appalling.
When business-people want to have nice suits made and are prepared to spend some money, they use a tailor. There are hundreds of decent tailors in London. I don't think there is any point spending lots on an Armani/Gucci/whatever suit that doesn't even fit properly. -

Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)I might get a scholarship from City of London and you say you have to buy a suit £1k upwards. **** going there.(Original post by cl_steele)
youre seriously going to spend £1k upwards on a suit for college? dude... its college not the City of London just go to M&S or Next something like that they do perfectly serviceable suits for relatively little.
I guarentee if you buy a suit like that itll be ruined by the end of first terms [and thats at a stretch] although given your assumed wealth i doubt thatll be to much of an issue.
plus people will probably think that youre just a, and i mean this in the politest way possible, a stuck up ****... -
Re: Where should I buy my suit for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)This literally made me lol.(Original post by Norton1)
Armani? What sort of prole are you? A pretty crashing one judging by your plan to purchase only one suit. -
Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)
Just go buy a suit you like the look of and take it to a tailor to get it adjusted... or just go to the tailor and have one made from scratch?
On that note, could somebody direct me to a good tailor in London? I'm craving a new suit so badly.

Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)To get an education?(Original post by Benniboi1)
If money is no object then why are you still going to sixth form?
I know if money was no object to me I'd certainly have at least 1 PhD by the time I was done with education. Then I'd go into research.

Re: Where should I buy my suits for sixth form? (Money doesn't matter)I've not really looked at women's suits on shopping sites for obvious reasons, but I've got to say I do really like the Next signature range:(Original post by Mother_Russia)

Some good quality, high class stuff there. It also seems that 15/47 of their products there are tailor fitted - bearing in mind that some of their products just show shirts and tiesLast edited by de_monies; 01-07-2012 at 22:17. -

Lol, Armani is actually pretty damn poor, even at the top of the range.
Real money goes bespoke.
What a try-hard.

Since when do the banks give out scholarships?
