Re: The Anime Soc chat thread XXI: High school AU version
Saw the olympic torch.
Before it came some trucks with people waving came by.. they were the sponsors and were advertising.
They gave out little flags
which is funny because not a minute earlier some guy was walking around with a carrier bag full selling them and people bought them.
Also I high fived a policman on a motorbike.

Re: The Anime Soc chat thread XXI: High school AU version
Hi, I do read the odd manga and watch anime
.
I was thinking about reading these manga's. What's your opinion on each of them? I might start reading more manga over the holidays
.
I was thinking of reading these manga's:
-Vagabond
-Rurouni Kenshin
-Blades of the Immortal
-Azumanga Daioh (watched some of the anime, though I dared myself to watch the last episode, not the best idea
It was quite sad)
-Yotsuba&!
Also, I've heard Berserk is quite good. I might also get Tekkonkinkreet and some Tezuka (probably Black-Jack).
Any opinions are kindly appreciated! \(^_^)/ -
Re: The Anime Soc chat thread XXI: High school AU versionOut of the above, I've only read Yotsuba&!, Azumanga Daioh and a couple of Tezuka works (MW and Princess Knight), so obviously I can only offer opinions on them.(Original post by Fool In The Rain)

The first two are probably my favorite comedy manga ever, and I'm sure the same is true for a lot of the regular members here. Kiyohiko Azuma is a genius.
MW is supposedly a lot darker than Tezuka's other works, so probably not the best one to have started with, though it was very good. Finally, Princess Knight is pretty important when it comes to the history of shoujo manga, but if you're just looking for a good story then several better series (in terms of plot and pacing) have been published in the 50 odd years since.

Hmm, that's an interesting question.
I'm probably forgetting some really obvious ones, but the first series that spring to mind are:
Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou
Rurouni Kenshin
Bastard!!
Hellsing
Devil May Cry
(Original post by Vulpes)
First ones that spring to mind are:
Black Cat
Full Metal Alchemist
Noblesse
Hellsing
Thanks guys, though apart from berserk I've already seen those.
How about a manga like Mx0? -
Re: The Anime Soc chat thread XXI: High school AU version
Okay just got my marks back for the year. They basically go: Essay bit somehow nearly a first
, first project with the bit iffy tutor just missed a 2:1 then last 2 project with the tutor who never turned up and who disliked me greatly not even a 2:2
. Well thankfully the other 2 bits pull my marks up over all but it does kind of prove the point I was making about how bad a tutor she was.

You've been lurking all this time, only deciding to post the moment a new thread appeared. I can only assume you'll be regularly posting from now on, right?
As if.

Re: The Anime Soc chat thread XXI: High school AU versionI'm currently up to date with One Piece, the only long running manga I keep up with. I dropped Bleach a while back.(Original post by Vulpes)
Manga for One Piece and Bleach is out! For anyone who is up to date with it.

Another series, both the anime and the manga, that I need to get back into when I have the chance. I'm aware that the anime has ended, which is all the more reason I should.(Original post by Vulpes)
Anyone here read Reborn? Gahhh I can't wait to see what will happen this arc!!!

Re: The Anime Soc chat thread XXI: High school AU version
Somehow, I managed to pass my motorbike test. Seems the regular practice with the hubby helped (an understatement, it was invaluable). I made a few minor mistakes due to nerves, but all in all, it was a good ride.

On a side note, my instructor struck up a rapport with Luke, and they may consider riding together at some point.
