The Amazing Spider-man

Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

I thought it was really well done! Better than Spider-Man (2002), but I can't remember enough of Spider-Man 2 to compare to that.

I liked how Conners was actually relatable (wanting to cure his disability and evolve mankind) rather than a typical boring villain. Even some of my friends who don't usualy watch superhero films enjoyed it! I'd recommend it to anyone.

I wonder what villains are going to be in the amazing spider man 2?
I've heard some people say it may be Sundown, which I hope is true. Dunno who he is, but it's a very cool name! And it'd be nice to have a villain we've never seen before.

Just watched it today and it was really good, I would say it is just as good as the original spiderman, Overall it is definitely worth watching even if you dont like superhero films you should enjoy it. The reason I say it is just as good as the Sam Raimi's spiderman is because it is better in some aspects but then it is worse in some. I wont say what just so I dont accidentally spoil something for people who haven't seen it yet.

Loved it! Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were much, much better than Tobey "The Whining Little Bitch" Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. It was quite dark (and even sad), but it also had some funny moments. It was definitely better than Spider-Man 2 and 3 and slightly better than the first one, which I also really liked.

Also, if anyone's interested, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are dating.

I agree! I think I set my expectations far too high. I preferred the original movies and even they weren't that spectacular. :erm:

Sorry you guys didn't like it, I personally loved it.

    I guess the whole...(slight spoiler)

    Spoiler:
    Show
...scaling of the Oscorp building to stop the toxin being blasted everywhere was a bit predictable, but overall, I loved the film.

I liked how parts of it harked back to the original comics (the way he creates the web and doesn't shoot it out of his wrists like the other films) and I thought Garfield was good as a socially awkward Peter Parker.

It also had some genuinely funny moments I thought

When he went into the wrestling Arena, I thought for a second they were going to re-do the scene from spiderman 2002 where he becomes a amateur wrestler, so glad they didin't. I loved this film especially because Andrew garfield was more fun to watch, he was cheeky and witty which is what spiderman should be. However I don't think it was better than the original spiderman, maybe it's because it gives me a feeling of nostalgia but I just thought it was more iconic, I though Osborn and his son were great 'villains' and let's not forget the killer soundtrack

    Love this song!

I rewatched the first Spider-man the other day, a few days after watching the Amazing Spider-Man, and I have to say that the new Spider-Man is better. The plot in the first one is kinda meh. And Kirsten Dunst.... God, I would've been a better Mary Jane.

Andrew Garfield is a such a class act.

Loved him in the Social Network and this was just 10 times better, there best be an Amazing Spiderman 2!

Waste of money I thought, only because the plot seemed like the first movie, and the "science" was very very optimistic.

I really don't get how he is frigid around girls, yet he flys and attacks villans after a day or so... Would have been better to see him learn his skills more in my opinion. But great film, great cast, hopefully it goes on for more

Is it just me or is Emma Stone not really that fit? I'm sure she's a good actress but I wouldn't have thought she'd be pretty enough to be a Hollywood heroine.

Cuz she cried a lot as a baby so her vocal cords or something got ****ed up. It sounds cool though.

I saw it last week and absolutely loved it. I think Garfield suits the role way better than Maguire did - the social awkwardness and comedic aspects were all spot on etc. I didn't really have any significant criticism of the film at all to be honest.

Plus they actually got the webbing right. I don't really know why that's such a big deal to me, but it is, lol.

    Loved it.

'Oh no! You've found my weakness, small knives!'

Best line in the film by far.

    Re: The Amazing Spider-man
This film was average, I thought. Honestly I enjoyed the 2002 spiderman more. There were so many things that annoyed me about this film.

First of all, I don't think Peter Parker was nerdy enough. He seemed like a cool guy and there was no reason why he would have been bullied. (Why were Parker and Flash best buddies at the end?)

The whole search for uncle Ben's killer (checking for tattoo) was stupid and went too long, and Parker just give up looking for him. WTF! He never actually got Ben's killer!

Peter Parker's name conveniently written in big letters on his camera that lizard destroyed. Was Peter even bothered about his camera being destroyed? Didn't seem so.

I didn't like the way he was bit by the spider, prefer the 2002 version.

The scene with spiderman saving the kid in the car was pointless.

The scene near the end with spiderman using the cranes was very cringy.

I think there should have been better explanation of how he made the webs.

I think spiderman forgot he could stick to walls near the end when falling off the building!

Aunt May was too young, she didn't even have grey hair. Plus I don't think her name was mentioned once throughout the film.

There seemed to be a step missing with lizard, in my opinion. He didn't look lizard enough either, he should have had the crocodile head like on the cartoon but he just looked like a monster.

    I could go on...

I did like some things though. Some of the actors were better, the fighting scenes were awesome and there were a few funny moments (e.g. the basketball bit). However I left disappointed, thinking the remake was unneccessary.
