feeling like im on autopilot/in a dream?
Is it normal to feel this way? Recently I've been feeling like im doing things without realising if that makes sense. So today for example was a lazy sunday where I got up late, ate and watched TV most of the day but its like I cant remember doing the stuff but can see myself doing them. I cant really explain it. I would say its like im watching myself but whilst doing whatever I'm doing it doesnt feel that way, it just feels like I'm doing things without thinking or as if I'm not quite there. And afterwards it just feels like a dream. This week I met up with friends, went to Thorpe Park, went to the cinema, was with my boyfriend etc so I have been very busy but havent felt like I was there. Its so hard to explain and I dont know why I'm feeling like this. It kind of feels like when you're multitasking. Like if I'm watching a film and ironing at the same time, technically I'm watching the film but I'm not quite taking it all in.
Other people have noticed. Usually I'm a very 'jokey' person whose always got something to say but because im so out of it I havent been the same and peoplke have been asking me if I'm alright and I say yes but I dont understand why I'm feeling like this or what exactly this is. Everything feels like a dream. I know this is weird but even in a dream I had this week I felt like i was dreaming IN the dream...so in the dream (which was actuallky a nightmare) I kept telling myself 'you just went to sleep, you're dreaming right now but I couldnt snap out of it and so I didnt believe myself and thought what I was dreaming was real. In my dream I had just 'woken' from sleep and so everything felt normal and real ironically...but the dream was still very weird and nonsensical (but felt real to me).
This is all probably very confusing but does anyone know what I'm talking about? -
I'd make a list of bullet points of these things, and take them to your doctor. It would be easier for him/her to understand as it sounds very confusing. Maybe it's associated with stress/ lack of sleep/ eating a particular food? I had this problem once when I stayed up all night on the bus to London and stayed up the next day too. Eating felt really weird too. It felt like I was dreaming, very unpleasant!(Original post by ilovefashion90)

Yeah it's called dreaming. -
Re: feeling like im on autopilot/in a dream?I tried to rate you, but it wouldn't let me, but yeah, I think I suffer from an Anxiety disorder and I can't feel connected to much at all, and haven't since college around 6 or so years ago(Original post by Jabberwox)
This is definitely derealisation... normally happens when you've had a lot of stress. -
Re: feeling like im on autopilot/in a dream?
I'm not sure it is derealisation, I thought that was something you experienced in the present rather than retrospectively.
To me this sounds like dissociation. Like when a person drives somewhere, then when they get there they feel like they can't remember the journey. It's a normal thing that helps us survive that can be applied abnormally by your brain for a number of reasons.
