Transferring large amounts of data from old PC to new one
I need to transfer music, movies and tv shows to a new PC. This is about 376GB of data.

Although now that I've seen how much I currently have, I'm sure I can delete quite a bit of stuff and cut it down a fair amount.

Can I do this over a network? I'll transfer from Vista to Windows 7, so I could use Windows Easy Transfer over WiFi to do it? Would this take ages? Cheers!

Why don't you just move your hard drive over to the new pc? And transfer it internally

You can do it, but I would personally connect it up directly to the router to ensure the best speed.

If transferring to a laptop, take the drive out and put it into a USB caddy and just plug it in.

If it's a desktop, just take the drive out and fit it in a spare drive bay.

If you don't feel competent to do this, then there's also the caddy option that I mentioned earlier with the laptop. If you don't feel competent about installing the drive in a caddy, well there is the slower option of connecting it up on a network and it will probably take a couple of days or less depending on the network speeds you have and whether or not you are using wifi or direct cable.

I'd highly recommend syncbackl to do this as it allows you to create a large batch to transfer your data. The benefits of this include better error reporting and handling - it won't cancel the whole lot if one file won't copy and it can resume a half completed job.
