Got a job but parents wants me to get another :|
So I got really lucky - I have no experience and upon at least 30 other people who applied, I got offered a job as a sales assistant in a women's clothing store. I am contracted to eight hours a week and have been working there since May.

The downside is there isn't really a set contract for these hours. Basically I get given the rota of when I do these each week. Someotimes, its not eight hours either, its sometimes lower and then I can also get overtime. When I started in May I worked 20 hours for two week in overtime but now I am back to around eight hours - ish - overall must have done about 80 hours now.

I am 19 so I get paid minimum wage, £4.98 aswell, plus tax - even though I haven't been paid yet and have to pay £3.60 for bus each day. It's awkward because I am not in full time education - I start uni this september so I ccould get job seekers except when they put me on overtime I can't obviously get it.

Now I do actually enjoy doing the job, I've never had a job but I've only started training on the till and I find that I quite like it even though it can be hard work.

Now my mum is asking me if I've been looking for jobs as she wants me to get more money for uni as my maintanence only just covers my accomodation. Obviously she wants me to get a full time job, I have been looking but it's just awkward if I do leave I think they will be disappointed - I'm not even sure they know about me going uni. Also been looking for part time but the rota is always chaning fso I won't be fully flexible and I know that's what most employers are looking for.

It's annoying because all my mum goes on about is her friends daughter who works in pizza hut and her other friends daughter who works in a pub, both get tips on top, my mum keeps commenting on that I should get a sjob there - obviously its not that easy - Pizza Hut is one of the hardest jobs to apply for online (I've tried 5 times and heard nothing) and the pub is on a main road with no public transport nearby and my mum and dad are working so they cant give me a lift if I needed one.

I then have my dad saying have you been looking at agencies in London/ gone to agencies they will get you a job. London will cost me £20+ to get there and is an hour and half away. He says about getting an office job but I've looked and noticed that most administrator jobs now need experience which I don't have.

Eurgh, I just don't know what to do? Should I ask the shop I'm working in if I could work the certain days I'm usually down for? :/

Was the interviewer male and do you have large breasts and blonde hair by any chance?

I jest... Anyway, I can see your trouble. Although your mum and dad are pestering you, I suppose it comes from a good place. They just want you to be able to get along at uni without worrying about money. They want what any kid wants for their child. I would advise trying your best to find the best job for you (including sticking at this one for the time being), and keeping your mum updated. There's not much more you can do besides that :dontknow:
