    Ashbury Golf Hotel
Me and 7 uni mates have booked a weekend away at the 'Ashbury Golf Hotel'. Has anyone on TSR been there before and if so, what was it like?

Yes, I've been before twice (this is in Okehampton right?). The golf is always good. Make sure you play Kigbeare, this is often regarded as the best course.

The accommodation is very basic, but you spend almost the whole day on the course or in the bar/food area, so it doesn't really matter. Please don't hesitate to ask any more questions, I've just given a very brief recount of my experiences

Sure, both times we went on Thursday afternoon and left on Sunday afternoon. We'd play between 9-18 holes on Thursday, at least 27 each of the next two days and 18 on Sunday. The first time we went the weather was great, but last year it rained non-stop until the last day.

For most of the courses, they recommend that you take a buggy, and I think you have to for Kigbeare (some of the walks between holes are ridiculous).

It's pretty good value from what I remember, considering it's a lot of golf and all you can eat food. Although, the greens do get pretty bumpy in the afternoon because of all the foot traffic. Other than that, it's usually in pretty good condition.

Thought I should update this. Had a pretty good times there with the lads. Epic courses, nice enough staff, good food, great selection of drinks and plenty of bang for your buck. Only thing I disliked was the ridiculous amount of Artex the clubhouse had. My room at home is Artex, My Uni room is Artex. If they spent a bit of money updating the place and bringing it into the 21st Century instead of the 1970's then it would be fantastic!! Definetly going to go back though (at least when I get the cash together!!!!)
