Installing MAC OS onto Windows System
not sure if this is the right place for me to post this but, if not, apologies and just shift my butt...ty!
ok so, mebbe is cos i'm bored just now but i wanna try something (and lemme mention from the get go that i am non-techie)
this 'something' is as per title. i'd like to see if i can get Mac OS to work on a windows laptop/pc. or indeed linux OS. i love the meenee and really wanna try what i am suggesting on there but, i dunno if the specs will support what i wanna do.
2 questions regards this pls.
1. what's the most basic system requirements/spec i need to have, in order for it to function. ie. ram etc. this is an experiment in the first instance and i'd like to do it as cheaply as poss.
2. anyone recommend any tuts pls? yes, i have googled but, there is a bewildering amount of info out there and as said, i am non-techie so a simple and basic guide (with pics) would be great!
i'm doing this because whilst i love apple OS and appearance, i simply cannot afford the kinda money needed for their laptops/PCs just now. so was kinda hoping to get the best of both worlds by tryin it like this.
in the first instance this is a trial run, to see if i can do it and if it will work. if it's successful, i'd love to self-build. nothing too fancy but, it's something i've always wanted to do and a modicum of success just now would give me a boost into actually doin it.
ty for any help

Re: Installing MAC OS onto Windows System
Setting up a hackintosh is typically a lot more effort than it's worth. It's not just a case of there being meeting minimum requirements, only components meeting specific criteria work at all, so 99% of the time PCs need to be scratch built to stand a chance of working, which is then accompanied by a host of headaches trying to get the OS to take. If building a pc is something you're comfortable with, there are forums like hackint0sh which can advise you through every step of the process (:

If not, I'm selling my 2010 13" MacBook Pro for £450, PM me if you think you might be interested

Re: Installing MAC OS onto Windows System
If you're wanting to run MacOS on a regular PC then you're looking at hackintosh builds but these are a legally grey area as I believe MacOS is only licensed to run on Apple hardware.
Linux is easier to install on any pc but is a different environment. Might be worth a try if you want something different. My preferences for this would be Ubuntu or Fedora. -
Re: Installing MAC OS onto Windows SystemIt's only really an issue when people try distributing hackintoshes, for example Psystar got shut down for manufacturing them. You aren't exactly going to receive customer support from Apple if you drag your desktop tower down to your local Apple Store, but there's not going to be any repercussions if you successfully get a decent instal =P(Original post by mfaxford)

Re: Installing MAC OS onto Windows System
I disagree slightly with the others saying that it's not worth making a Hackintosh, but that's 100% because I think it's fun to mess around with computers. So much more fun than picking something off the shelf. But that's just down to personal preference.
All in all,
It depends on your processor and how capable it is.
I recommend Dual Booting.
Virtual Machine works (fiddly, but works), but it's CPU intensive because you'd essentially be double threading 2 Operating Systems at once.
