    Selling on Ebay
I want to sell on eBay but I am only 16 years old (the minimum age requirement being 18 years old to have a Paypal/eBay account). What will happen if I lie about my age (will they find out), I also need Paypal just in case the suppliers mess about, will Paypal ask me my age If i report any problems. Will I need to pay tax because I'm only planning to sell 2 different products per week (approx £30-50 profit per week), Will eBay question me because they might notice a trend in the items that I sell. Thnx for any help :groovy:

I've been an eBay (and PayPal) member since I got my debit card when I was 13 and only just found out you have to be 18. Never been an issue for me though, I've bought loads of things on eBay and sold a few too with no trouble. Bear in mind listing fees are usually around 10% (unless the product is over £400 I believe) which is quite expensive.

@chelseafan you don't need to, verification just means you are more trusted. It is a simple process; PayPal makes a couple of small transactions which you must then identify on your bank statement and give some information from the statement regarding said purchases. I haven't done it and haven't had any issues.

How did you get a debit card at 13? I thought you had to be 18 (or near 18) to get one.

OP, the reason that you are required to be 18 is because that is the legal age that you can consent to enter a contract for non-necessities, however they won't care as long as you deliver the products as promised.

You can get a debit card aged 11 from Natwest (not sure about other banks), i know you have to be 18 to enter a contract, but say I buy a few products from a B2B (suppliers) and they don't deliver the products as promised and I report this to Paypal, will they still help me or will they need proof of age?

So basically I decided to lie about my age (only by 15 months ), will make a Paypal and eBay account in a couple of weeks time (need to shove some money in the bank), stop me if you think I shouldn't be making either accounts.
