Actually I went to a private school in South London and about 30%+ of the students were from ethnic minorities.
My and my friend went to south London the other day and she said that it felt like a mini India

Near where I live is very Asian but take a ten minute bus journey up the road and the population is largely Afro-Carribbean. -

Depends which bit of South London.

and i can gladly say that we were not disappointed.
It was a 1hour 45 min train journey from where we live, i think it is quite remarkable what some people will do for a good curry

I prefer more diverse schools as well. I think it prepares you better for the working world, when you'll be encountering people from all different walks of life. Plus, its just a lot more interesting :/ no but seriously I'm surprised with what you said. Most schools usually have a higher percentage of white students as they are the majority

Re: I HATE schools/colleges which are not very diverse.Just wondering, would you still be complaining if it was mostly white people at the school?(Original post by Kwaku_96)
So, I went to a taster day at a college and although I enjoyed the lessons as well as liked the teachers. I felt very uncomfortable at times and found it incredibly hard to socialise with the other students as they already knew one another (most went to the same secondary school) and they were mostly Asian. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm no racist, I've had to deal with prejudice and racism most of my life and I hate it when people are discriminated because of their skin colour or background. However, I just felt weird being in an environment full of Asian teenagers. I spent five years at a secondary school where there were a mixture of different races and nationalities. I guess, I've just been accustomed to being around white people, black people, Asian people not just one race. One thing I noticed about the students was that they'd speak in either Bengali or Indian and this made me as well as the other non-Asian students (and teachers) feel uncomfortable.
So, what's your opinion on schools which are predominately just one race instead of a mixture of different races to create diversity. Also, the college isn't that far from the secondary school (which was diverse) I attended. -

Re: I HATE schools/colleges which are not very diverse.I'm sure OP knows that Indian is not a language. There are so many different spoken languages in India, it might be a bit difficult for non-Indian people to recognize which language the students were speaking. Would you have preferred him/her to have listed all of the languages?(Original post by kirino1)
'Indian' is not a language.. -
Re: I HATE schools/colleges which are not very diverse.Given that there's no language called "Indian", I'm struggling to believe you really went to a multiethnic school.(Original post by Kwaku_96)

Re: I HATE schools/colleges which are not very diverse.I hate it too. I went to this school this year the was mostly white. Not fun at all(Original post by Kwaku_96)

Re: I HATE schools/colleges which are not very diverse.Yes, I would. I like there to be a mixture of races. I guess, I'm so used to being in a diverse schooling environment.(Original post by FunkeyMunkey)

Re: I HATE schools/colleges which are not very diverse. As a someone who is not Indian, I'm not aware of what languages they speak. So, I apologise. Also, I'm not attacking Asian people, I'm just saying that it feels weird being in a schooling environment full of people who are of the same race. I would be saying the same thing if I had gone to a college where there were mostly White people or Black people (the latter, being my race).(Original post by KiaraMarissa)
