    How hard is Physics A2
In comparison to AS level physics, what is A2 like?
Is the jump similar to that or GCSE to AS?

I loved A2 compared to AS, I did my course with OCR, the bit about the universe, medical and circuits was great fun, nuclear was fun also, but this years questions in the exams were off putting, Newtonian world has very good practical applications and is good fun, I would not say it is much of a jump at all just be more precise

Honestly is not very different in terms of difficulty, its just that the contents different.
However, alot of low performing students would have dropped the subject after AS and so exam trickiness of exam questions does increase abit, otherwise grade boundaries for A2 would be much higher than for AS exams.

Thanks! =) what about the coursework at A2? I heard that it's a lot harder to do well in...?

    This.
I think the GCSE to AS level is far bigger, AS to A2 is merely a step up as there's more synoptic thinking involved in A2
In terms of coursework it isn't necessarily harder, but more rigorous and will require more attention to detail. Have a look at the mark sheet you get given. I done edexcel btw.

A2 is more interesting and is where all the fun comes along

It's an impossible question because everyone's science and maths abilities are different but from memory it was rated in the top 2 or 3 hardest A levels to do, Can't remember exactly.. Don't know if that helps at all?

I found A2 physics much more interesting because you get to study a much larger range of topics, some of which, e.g. Astrophysics and Particle physics contain a lot of material which people are still researching, other areas such as electromagnetism and SHM go into more detail than topics at AS

IMO it wasn't much more conceptually challenging, if you do OCR then medical physics is difficult in that there's a lot to memorise and it's quite dull.

I don't know about other boards, but AQA were quite similar in what you're expected to do with the ISA practical exam. It is a bit more in-depth, and you'll be required to write more, but you learn all of it at a steady pace.

The topics are as easy or as difficult as you find them really. I had problems with the elementary particles bit which occur at AS and A2, but had no problem with the electricity topics. Others were able to visualise and make better sense of the particle stuff and struggled on the electricity.

I never found it too far beyond AS though. It was a healthy step up, but totally manageable.
