SAAS Documents
I'm in a bit of a mess and I am starting to get a bit stressed about student finance...
On 19 June I completed and submitted my online application, providing details of parents' income etc. On the last page it said I may have to send in documents proving household income and divorce. No address is provided here and it put me under the impression that this proof is requested and is not needed (unless requested) for a full application to be correct.
Am I right in believing this or will I have to send photocopies of the Decree of Divorce, Tax Credits, Child Maintenance and Child Benefit without them requesting it? When tracking my application it says "if you have not provided all the necessary information or documentation your application will not be covered by the Guarantee" which scares me! However, the website also says "We can’t finish processing your application if we are waiting for supporting documents. Please check you have sent us any documents requested, for example, a P60, a copy of your child’s birth certificate or a copy of your tax credits letter." They have not requested any documents yet so can I assume I met the deadline?
Directly from the application:
We have received your application and will send you an award notice soon... The 30 June guarantee date only applies to correctly completed applications. You may need to send documentation to support your application so please check the table below for examples of evidence we need.Last edited by kikimckenzie; 02-07-2012 at 19:29. -
Re: SAAS Documents
I sent a P60 in the post the day after I submitted my application (which you need to do if applying for maximum loans or income assessed support). If you're applying for income assessed support or a loan then you'll have to send relevant proof of income and circumstances. If you log into your SAAS account and open 'Make a Student Award Application' it should show you a list of the required documents to send.
https://www.saas.gov.uk/student_supp...ion_latest.htm According to this it will be a few weeks before your application is even processed, so just post them in now and it should be fine. -
Re: SAAS Documents
Was in a similar boat and applied for tuition fees and bursary. They sent out an award notice and it only had tuition fees on it but no mention of the bursary at all. Not at word on it.
Phoned them up today after an HOUR on hold and apparently I'm supposed to guess what they need to see as she said they have been waiting on a form to fill out that has my mums income on it, despite me already telling them in my application. So they emailed me a form and I'm sending it away tmz. The form asks no questions different from my application so I do not see the point =/
Going to send a copy of her p60 too.
So basically because SAAS dont make it clear what each individual needs to send in and instead puts stupid things on the website like "You may" or "sometimes we need" etc etc. I have missed the deadline =( Really angry at them.
Last year I did not need to send anything extra away so dont see why now. Its my 3rd time for gods sake! -
Re: SAAS Documents
I have noticed that the website isn't always accurate in what it says. There's a lot of contradicting information and problems with the application forms. I'm just hoping that the award notice comes through correct the first time so that I don't have to go through a lot of hassle to (hopefully) get the money before my course starts.
Ps: just noticed that, despite having the correct course title on my application, the course code is for the wrong course - superb.Last edited by Sw3ensterFM; 04-07-2012 at 02:49. -
