Worried about money over the holidays...
I basically just finished at my job last week because of medical reasons (reasons that only effect this job) and recent circumstances have meant that I only have about £150 for this entire summer until I get my student loan when I get to uni in sept. I'm really at a loss for what to do to try and get some money because no-one will employ me because I'm only around for about 5 weeks of the summer (because of a course I'm doing) and I REALLY don't want to sign on for JSA because there's just no chance of me being employed because of my other commitments, so that doesn't seem right. I know I've got some things coming up that I need to pay for, which for the moment I can afford, but that will leave me with pretty much no money
If anyone has any advice on what I might be able to do to earn some cash I would be very appreciative!!

Re: Worried about money over the holidays...Either get a job (don't tell them you only want it for 5 weeks) or get the bank to temporarily extend your overdraft. Money management is all part of learning life's lessons, hopefully your parents will be there for the early years when you don't quite get it right.(Original post by rhian_lh)

Oh, and being a student on summer break, you aren't eligible for JSA, although you are if you haven't started yet, you weren't 100% clear on that.Last edited by marcusfox; 02-07-2012 at 20:51. -
Re: Worried about money over the holidays...Yeah still at home, am trying my best to not spend money, ha! And I might try and see if I have anything worth selling, thanks for that(Original post by BefuddledPenguin)
I'm in a similar situation, and it's quite frustrating. Your best bet may be to sell some things just to tide you over until September. Are you still living at home? If so simply avoiding any unnecessary shopping could be enough.
I keep applying, but I think the main problem employers have is that I'm away for the whole of August, so places like cafes and local shops aren't interested as it's very touristy around here.(Original post by marcusfox)

No I haven't started yet, and I'm 19 so technically I would be eligible, but I'd just feel like I was scrounging off the government (which is effectively what I would be doing!) and I'd rather earn what I get anyway.
Thanks for the speedy replies btw
