What size rucksack should I buy?
I'm going away for 8 days and I'm planning on bringing a rucksack because it will be easier (we are going to 3 countries). I have been looking between 35-60L but I'm not really sure what size.
All I need is a few tops, a few bottoms (probably shorts, a skirt and something else), an extra pair of shoes and a toiletry bag.

I was looking at this bag.. but would 44L be too small?

It depends on how light you pack. You could get away with 15 L if you pack economically but I'd say the maximum you would need is something around 30 L, if only for 8 days. Where will you be staying/what will you be doing?

We're staying in hostels in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Paris. We are flying to Amsterdam then getting trains. We will just be sightseeing really. I don't want a bag so big that it will be a nuisance but I also don't want to have to pack too lightly.. maybe with a little room for shopping. Thanks for your reply.

    Sure no problem.

If that's the case (get it??!?!?!), then I would recommend something between 25 to 30. 60s are more for large hiking trips where you'll need to carry equipment like Trangias, tents, etc. As you're sleeping in rented accommodation and presumably getting food while you're there (as opposed to carrying it around), 25 should be more than enough with 30 - 35 if you feel like you need it. I wouldn't go with Jansport if you plan on continually using this bag as they're not the best.

You'd want to look at something like Osprey or even Berghaus. Osprey's are the best packs but they do cost and if you don't intend on using it often, then that's probably not an investment you should look at.

Agreed, up to 30 will be plenty (it helps if you either have less shoes or have a small shoe size so they dont take up too much room)

Don't get one bigger than 35L. It will be far too big and will just weigh you down and be a nuisance to carry!
