Re: The scale of sexual abuse by police officersThat's disgusting. I hope the law deals with all these horrid people who think it's okay to harm people. The fact that cops are doing it makes it so much worse. These people are there for our protection surely but if we start to find more and more of them doing these terrible things then public trust in them will dwindle. However, there are mostly brave and decent police officers out there. Just a few rotten apples spoiling it.

2. This has happened, and will continue to happen, for thousands of years.
3. All we can do is try to monitor and control it the best we can and punish offenders.
4. This will never stop completely, it is impossible to weed out all the crazies. Often people who seem the most trustworthy turn out to be scumbags.
This reminds me of the pastor in america who burned through all his churches savings at vegas for years before anyone realised where the money was going. When you trust someone it places them in a position of power, and tempts them to abuse that power. Catch 22. If you never trust anyone, society can't function properly. Basically it's a balancing act of Abuses - Trust, if abuses cause trust to be lost, it's not good for the society. -
