You're on live TV and a person next to you faints. Do you
    a) Help them? or b) sit there with a stuck up look on your face and do nothing?

This woman reminds me of my old secondary school teacher.

Could thought he was trying to lie on her. I don't expect rational behaviour to occur when something like that happens. It's such an unusual thing to happen I'd imagine she'd be trying to process what the hell is happening. It's easy for someone to come onto an article which entitled Guy faints - MP recoils in horror and say she's selfish for not rushing to help but we already knew what had happened before watching the video. Had it happened randomly to us we'd be thinking 'WTF' as well.

It's like when I was at Tae Kwon Do and someone next to me fainted but I thought she'd dropped to her knees, then as she tumbled sideways onto the floor someone who had been on the other side of the room was by her side and I sort of felt 'I should've got to her first. That said, this case is extremely awkward as well.

Personally I think everyone's being too harsh. She does put her hand out to him in a shot further back but not everyone is willing to be on the spot of caring for someone even for a split second.

Looking back at it, after he faints he still moves to that can sort of suggest he was about to be sick all over the MP, in which I don't blame her for recoiling.

It wasn't immediately clear he'd fainted. Even at that, it's a pretty rare and shocking thing to see. Also, she's a politician, there's no guarantee nor expectation that she's at all first-aid qualified. Give her a break.

She’s not that good an MP to be honest, taken a lot of stick beforehand – not that there are that many capable MPs within the House of Representatives, on either bench. Combet is not too bad as a person compared to some of his peers in Government but he was involved in the Carbon Tax and thus is widely hated alongside his counterparts.

I don't think she did much wrong really? To begin with it wasn't clear that he had fainted, and it seemed as though she was sort of just checking him out to see whether he was going to get up, it was a fairly short space of time, she had hardly worked out that he had fainted and then made the decision to do nothing in that time.
The one guy on the panel just goes "Not quite sure what he's doing there" ha. They obviously weren't sure what was going on

This is one of these things where you know you shouldn't find it funny, but it kind of is. As someone else said, she looked as though she was sussing him out to see what was happening.

Just from the title I imagined he sort of slithered to the floor; didn't think he would faceplant a desk. Poor guy.

    So what are her policies?
She's part of the Liberal Party which is effectively the Conservatives, they form an overall block party (‘The Coalition’) with the Nationals Party and some state variants which hold rural seats, presently they are in opposition against a Labor-Green Government (Supported by Independents). It is extremely likely that they will be in power come 2013 or earlier if there is such an election, possibly by a large margin based on landslide wins in Queensland and New South Wales in recent state elections.

Primarily their policies at the moment are; opposition to the Carbon Tax (which is 99% of their policy platform) and supporting offshore processing (The other 1%) specifically in Nauru where the last Coalition Government (John Howard’s) set things up quite nicely and was working well. The primary opposition against them is the usual personal slander against specific members (who deserve it really), attacks on their poor counter arguments against the carbon tax (which are truly appalling) and the general calls that they are somewhat racist for their attitudes on asylum seekers which are really a lot better than those of the average Australian.

In my personal opinion they are probably the lesser of the two evils but both parties are run by absolute Muppets, honestly they are probably worse than in the UK, and the vast majority are unfit to govern.
