Thanks, you've posted the most useful and down to earth advice. Out of curiosity what university and what subjects?
    No problem.

I did Business Studies  Media Studies  and English Language (+ compulsory General Studies ), with Sports Studies at AS

But frankly at the time I chose them I didn't even care to consider what universitites might think about those subjects because I wanted to spend two years studying subjects I was actually interested in.

I'm now studying Law at the University of Nottingham. It's a good rather than excellent university overall to be fair, but its Law school is really top quality.

And there are two further points I would stress:
    1) Just because a university says a subject is 'soft' doesn't mean it actually is easy. The people who determine which subjects their university defines as 'soft' have evidently never studied those subjects in their current form, never mind the fact it's a hugely subjective topic.
    2) Some universities, like Nottingham (at least when I applied), don't care what subjects you studied because they are indicative of your interests rather than your academic ability. I'm a good example of this - laughably 'soft' A levels yet I came in the top ~10% of my class of 200 this year.

The only caveat is that if you are looking at particular universities you want to apply to and they do specify certain subjects, it is of course worth your while considering them. But it's your choice ultimately.

    Law and business are soft..
A better combination would be economics, history, chemistry/maths, drama/literature

business and law are considered weak and are considered "blacklisted" subjects to the top universities...
Drama is a decent choice because in a law career you do have to put up a performance in court, other than that a science is just as good..
and thanks, geography was the only GCSE I didnt get a C+ in so yeah I hate it XD

I really don't think law matters- I applied to Sheffield, Lancaster, York, Exeter and University of East Anglia- I got offers from all of them. They will not reject you because you took law as an A-level.
