Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years.Yes it is because they've cut EMA and ALG and travel costs. Which would of meant i have money coming in for food so i can actually eat for once..(Original post by OU Student)
That's not the government's problem, is it?
So yeah it is. -

Stop ****ing moaning. -
Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. So the Government should pay you money because you didn't properly consider the financial implications of doing OPTIONAL education? You knew you wouldn't get EMA or ALG, you knew you wouldn't be able to get other benefits and you knew the employment situation in the country right now is pretty tough and you still chose to go to college. Seems to me the only one to blame here is you and continuing to insist your rights have been taken away from you is an attempt by you to justify your bad decision by making it someone elses fault.(Original post by ClaraJayne)

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years.actually i didn't know that, ALG was only cut this year i thought i could claim it when i joined college, then to my horror after going to student support i found out it was cut and no one could claim it anymore. So I'l have to dissagree with you there(Original post by gateshipone)

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. The rest of my point still stands. You didn't fully consider the financial implications of going to college.(Original post by ClaraJayne)

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years.I wasn't informed that ALG had stopped. I concidered it i had a plan and my plan was to claim ALG. And it stopped after i joined so...(Original post by gateshipone)

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years.Oh, all that time they have for fun. Why, they can walk around in it! making sure not to drink, eat out, visit anywhere or do anything because they live off barely more than I spend on lunch every week.(Original post by For The Love Of Giraffe)
People who actually work and get no free money to work have less time than these jobseekers have for fun - on what planet is that fair? It's not patronising to think that is wrong. -
Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. So you should have had a plan B. Don't you watch the news? Cuts to different things have been discussed for a while now, if you'd kept up to date on the news you'd have probably known that your funding may be at risk.(Original post by ClaraJayne)
I wasn't informed that ALG had stopped. I concidered it i had a plan and my plan was to claim ALG. And it stopped after i joined so... -
Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. The abolition of ALG was announced in late 2010. When did you start college?(Original post by ClaraJayne)

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years.I didn't really used to watch the news to be honest. I started about 2011 the begging of.(Original post by nulli tertius)

Don't start saying "oh your fault then blah blah" -.- -
Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. It is 16 hours, but even if you are attending less, your college can still call the course 'full time'.(Original post by Shomberlon)
I know, in theory on 13 hours you could do a full time job and study. It maybe due to the course being essay heavy that they take that into consideration
As you will need a letter from them to give to the JC, if they officially call the course 'full time' you're going to be struggling to convince the JC that it isn't. -
Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years.I think most of the critics on here are annoyed that you see what has happened to you as unfair when you did so little research. Go to the mature students forum and you will finds dozens of people in no better position than you who have well-worked out strategies for getting back into education.(Original post by ClaraJayne)

Like I said earlier I got lucky, when enrolling they took everyone into a room who were on JSA explained the situation and what the job centre would say and then printed off a learner agreement that said its was a part time course breaking down the hours for them.(Original post by marcusfox)

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. So many idiot right wingers in here who for whatever reason just don't seem to be able to comprehend that there is more job seekers than jobs...

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. To continue getting your JSA, which is what the thread is primarily about, namely Jobseekers Allowance claimants being sanctioned for not keeping to their Jobseeker Agreement, it doesn't matter one single jot that there are more job seekers than jobs.(Original post by Left Hand Drive)

There will always be job vacancies available to apply for, and as such, you will be expected to apply for them as long as that continues.
Getting everyone off JSA, well that isn't going to happen, but JSA claimants complaining that they are being sanctioned for not applying for jobs, well that happens because that's pretty much contrary to the core of what you have to do to stay on JSA.
It's not right wing or otherwise to insist that you continue seeking work if you want to receive unemployment benefits.
Martyn's been moaning about this since April 2011 (mostly pages 2 and 3 of that thread) when I pointed that out to him then, and I'm not surprised he's still moaning (and unemployed).Last edited by marcusfox; 07-07-2012 at 00:18. -

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years.Yup I agree whilst on JSA look for a job! What I was getting at more James22's comments of reducing it after 6 months.(Original post by marcusfox)

Re: Lazy Jobseekers to lose benefits for three years. No, I wouldn't, because I don't have a sense of entitlement.(Original post by ClaraJayne)
