    Possible Free Accommodation?
I live 65miles away from the University I will be attending (Glasgow Caledonian). I really need a place to stay in Glasgow, but I have no money what so ever and my parents are in the same position and can't support me as it's a tough time for my family at the moment. I was wondering if their is anyway in receiving free accommodation by uni's or the government etc.?

    Thanks.

    Re: Possible Free Accommodation?
This is what student loans, maintenance grants and uni bursaries are for, although the Access to Learning Fund may be able to help. If your parents are on a low income, then the combined total of the loans, grants and bursaries is more than enough to pay rent and live off.

The only free accommodation I have ever come across is
    - postgrads & mature students who live in halls and act as pastoral tutors
    - people who live in backpackers hostels and act as housekeepers in return for free accommodation (I've done it myself, and it's not really suitable if you have to do uni work).
