If you already have those A levels then why not

Give it a try I guess, your A Level results are certainly good enough and I shouldn't think that your GCSEs will make too much of a difference, just as long as they aren't the deciding factor between you and another candidate - just make sure you impress at the interview.

The grades are fine, but you could learn that plurals don't have apostrophes!

I don't see the point in these retarded threads. If you meet their entry requirements for the course you want to take, you automatically have a chance of being accepted.

dofe means jack all to Oxbridge tbh - sure it's a nice inclusion to show you're a real person, but not having it is not even remotely disadvantageous Sports are the same - you should have at least one sport or activity, but the main focus is on the academic stuff and passion etc. particularly for a subject like Physics (you realise you'd have to go for either Maths - which leads into Mathematical Physics or something - or Natural Sciences at Cambridge, they don't do Physics).

As for A-levels - I thought you're in year 11?? Or are you a gap year student?

What UMS marks did you get? Those are the all-important stats which Cambridge look at rather than GCSEs Especially for Maths and NatSci...
I would *strongly* recommend that you go for Cambridge instead of Oxford due to your GCSEs - Oxford look at your GCSEs much more as they don't ask for your UMS marks, and so you'd be screwed from the start (most likely, I mean you could fluke a place, but you'd be much much safer going for Cambridge). At Cambridge you'd have to do NatSci or Maths option b (Mathematics with Physics, for students who may want to study Physics after the first year).

Definitely at Cambridge. Oxford look more into your GCSE's though.

Just do a lot of extra reading and be prepared for questions beyond what you've studied at A-levels. I think you'd be pretty much guaranteed an interview at Cambridge.

You do realise Oxford are regarded as the number one place that care about the academic side of you? You can be as boring as a birdwatcher and still get in provided you have good enough grades.

As others have said, Cambridge look at A levels more than Oxford, which I'm screwed for then considering that I'd rather apply for a pure chemistry degree, but I only have 2 A*'s at GCSE.

Oxbridge don't care about dofe just show passion for the subject, and have very high exams scores. It depends on the college to be honest

Re: do i have a chance of getting into oxbridge?
It's true to say that Oxford don't ask for UMS marks, but that's not to say that GCSEs are a big deal in Oxford's decision-making process. The main criterion on which shortlisting is done in Physics, and still a major criterion for how offers are determined, is the PAT admissions test. Doing well on this is much more crucial than having a strong set of GCSEs.
