Payed my share of a sharer house, but not allowed to move in
Hellooo,
When I say my I mean my girlfriend,
She's gone to an estate agent, found a house and applied to move in,
Move in date was 1st July
She lives with 3 other people, they each need to pay £X
She paid her entire deposit and 1st month rent which is what they need and has nothing else to pay, but they are not letting her move in because 1 of the other girls hasn't submitted a guarantor paper.
Surely in a SHARER house they can't take your money but not let you move in, they're not giving her 4 days money back or anything either, so she's paying for not living there.
Cheers. -

Re: Payed my share of a sharer house, but not allowed to move in
It'll be a joint tenancy contract which means "joint and several liability" so until all rent is paid by all parties, none of the rights can be enjoyed - it's the same with my house next year. We all have to pay our rent before anyone can collect the keys. If it's a joint tenancy it's definitely legal, and something that would have been written in the contract.

Re: Payed my share of a sharer house, but not allowed to move inUnfortunately, the chances are that's legit. If it's a joint tenancy, then they are all jointly liable. In effect, it's just as much your girlfriends fault as it is the girl who hasn't given in her form. Obviously that's crap, but the nature of the tenancy, I'm afraid(Original post by Brad0712)

If there are individual contracts for the tenancy, then yes, the landlord should allow your girlfriend to move in. That's the pa
